These are a very good idea. Cats are notoriously touchy about their toes and feet. I'm always concerned I'll cut too far down, IF I can even get hold of a cat nail. I used to buy the Millers Forge but I have been having issues getting stock of it. This is as good as the Millers Forge. In fact I think the blades stay sharper for longer. I am a dog groomer and go through nail clippers very quickly. Dog nail clippers must be sharp so that they don't crush the nail and hurt the dogs. I trim my cat's claws about once a week, and after buying a second set of these great stainless steel nail trimmers (admittedly: because I misplaced my first pair), I thought it was high time to toss in a review to let others know how nice they are. I purchased these stainless steel pet nail trimmers in the small-medium size. It has locking blades and comfortable, rubber-coated handles. One of the features that I particularly like on this set of nail trimmers is that it has a safety to help prevent injury to your pet's claws. You will still need to be mindful of avoiding the quick, of course, but the safety at least helps prevent a slip-up if your pet makes a sudden movement. The blades are extremely sharp and the reverse is spring-loaded so that once you release the locking mechanism (which is very sturdy), the blades easily come open and ready for use. The small-medium sized trimmer I purchased worked nicely for my cat, and I can see it working well for both small and medium sized dogs as well. This is like any other dremel out there. Its just a 1-2 setting tool. Its as loud as regular ones and still bothers my dog when I need to use it. It does however grid the nails down just fine and as far as I can tell dogs like it more than clippers. It uses regular sand paper bits so its nothing special. If you own a dremel just use that one, it will work better and faster with no need to spend 30 on another one, on a low setting. I would have given it a 4 star but it says its quiet which is not true. Any dremel on a 1-2 setting will sound the exact same. I recommend using a nicer one with a 3-4 setting and a grit sand paper and a fine sand paper. You will be much happier with thatllehctim787

I have been looking for clippers that my just one year old Golden Retriever will not jump away from. Being able to adjust how much nail is clipped at any one time is very important, and these work perfectly. I worked with him for several days playing with him while the clippers near his toes, then touching his toes, then lightly grabbing the nails with the clippers without clipping, and then finally clipping just a little at a time. this product is made very poorly. the light will not stay lit. I have to tighten the bottom of the batteries everytime I want to use it with the light. it also does not cut my dogs nails all the way through. the clippers tore the nails the last 1/4 way through. it was very painful for my dogs and very difficult for me to use.Samantha
These were not very good quality. The blade was not sharp enough to go through my Bassets nails. The light was broken when we received them so that function wasn't useful. The blade replacement release wouldn't move so we couldn't replace the blade that came with it. And they certainly are not very heavy duty.Theresa
I bought on Amazon. I love the LED light and magnifier because I can see the blood line even in black nails. The bad reviews, either they received a defective one or they are not using it correctly. I've used these on 5 different small dog breeds and 1 large dog, and it worked equally great on all. You can buy replacement blades cheap on Amazon, but I broke my clippers trying to remove an old blade to replace it, so now I have to buy another clipper, but still cannot complain because I used my first clipper for 5 years.sharon.m

During the pandemic, my dogs had been booked at the groomers for a bath and nail clip, but with all the lock down measures, I was rescheduled 3 times. After a few months I finally decided that I couldn\'t wait for the groomers and had to cut their nails myself. I dug out a guillotine-style set of clippers and started on my 11 year old English Setter. After only cutting a few nails, the third one split in half. He flinched and pulled his paw away. I felt so bad and called it a night. Then I did a bit of research and found out that the guillotine-style clippers are terrible for larger dogs because they often crush (and not cut) the nails. It turns out the best kind of dog nail clippers is this scissor style. I then called my vet and asked them what kind they use, and they use Millers Forge clippers. This is the first pair of quality nail clippers that I've owned. There are a few reviews on here saying that it's made of plastic? The entire item is made from a durable metal material and it has rubber grips on the handle bars. Additionally, the description said that it is meant for large dogs, but I've used it on my 80lb bully breed and my 10lb chihuahua and it worked wonders for both. This is definitely the best bang for your buck. If you're looking to replace your old pair of nail clippers, or even shopping for your first pair give these a try. First I must let potential buyers know that this does not come with a rechargeable USB as indicated in the description. You must buy AA batteries. However, it feels very comfortable in hand, and the cap doesn't unexpectedly fall off during use. I love the red paw print button design and how this device is big enough for a better grip during use. I see NO use for the automated light though. It's not as a flashlight that scatters around the object; it's more of a straight forward line. LOVE IT! We have two Cavaliers with small nails and two Setters with large nails. Worked beautifully on all! Although not noisy at all, the motor running was still a sound the dogs were unfamiliar with so I let it run while giving them some favorite treats. After a couple times of that, they ignored it with the exception of one of our Setters who's skittish about ALL noises so not surprised by her reaction. Took a couple minutes for me to get used to the feel of using it and the dogs too, but then I was able to finish eat dog quickly and easily! Even our super skittish Setter settled down by the third paw which gives me hope that eventually trimming her nails might not be the battle it's been with regular clippers. The light cannot be rotated to line up with the various holes sizes which was a little disappointing but it's bright enough to shine thru the nail and "double check" how close you're getting to the quick. These are a very good idea. Cats are notoriously touchy about their toes and feet. I'm always concerned I'll cut too far down, IF I can even get hold of a cat nail. I had been using human nail clippers which were only ok. With these clippers, you can't go too far onto the nail and reach the "quick" which would be ever so painful. Only one negative, I purchased the first pair (which says includes cats' toenails), but with one senior cat, some of her nails have thickened so I had to order the next size up – a small. I was SO excited when I saw these clippers, thinking that "arm wrestling" my three terriers (each weighing approximately only 19 lbs.) every weekend might finally be over. I've had dogs all my life and I compete with them in dog agility, so trimmed nails are a must. I've used both kinds of clippers (guillotine and scissors types) and Dremels, I've never nicked a nail, but it is still a physical battle. I saw these Zen Clippers and thought they would be the answer for me. Sadly, it's not the case, and so I am returning them. I tried the XL size, but even on my small Sealyham Terriers, the clipper just slides off the nail with doing little, if any, trimming. We recently adopted our dog. Her nails had been neglected. Don't know if that's the reason why they're so tough to clip or not but these, unfortunately, just weren't strong enough for her nails. Instead of normal animal nail clippers, these do not spring open. They work more like scissors. They are also much shorter than the typical nail clippers. I think both of these are great features and they work exactly like I need them to. Without the spring, I am able to have complete control the entire time that I am using them. Just bought this clipper based on total # and great reviews posted online. This clipper is FANTASTIC for ALL nails sizes( huge-tiny.) Just finished clipping one Large and one Medium sized dog. My medium dog had a broken dew claw that I needed to trim up, clean and bandage. My dogs didn’t really mind the grinder nail trimmers but never seemed to like the noise and vibration while I was grinding down their nails. The dogs would eventually try to pull away while I was working. Miller’s Forge clippers didn’t even seem to register for my dogs … they just seemed to think I was giving them attention. I clipped all their nails with zero fuss. I have only used them once … but they seem well manufactured. Online they are $6.99 and at the Petco store they are $9.99 … just ask for the online price … you may have to show them the online price on your phone like I did.2Garth
I needed to cut my puppy’s nails but I read the reviews on both the sizes for these nail clippers to see which were the best for my puppy. He’s a small maltipoo so I thought the smaller sized nail clippers would work good but after reading the reviews that people said they would break easily, I decided to go with the bigger ones (orange color). When I first picked up the nail clippers I thought they were huge and there’s no way to cut my tiny 3lb maltipoo’s nails. But they actually worked out really good, I’m able to see how far back on the nail I am cutting before I actually cut them. This is the only kind I could use for my dog’s dew claws which will grow in a circle and sometimes grow back into her skin.
