These are a very good idea. Cats are notoriously touchy about their toes and feet. I'm always concerned I'll cut too far down, IF I can even get hold of a cat nail. I had been using human nail clippers which were only ok. With these clippers, you can't go too far onto the nail and reach the "quick" which would be ever so painful. Only one negative, I purchased the first pair (which says includes cats' toenails), but with one senior cat, some of her nails have thickened so I had to order the next size up – a small. I was SO excited when I saw these clippers, thinking that "arm wrestling" my three terriers (each weighing approximately only 19 lbs.) every weekend might finally be over. I've had dogs all my life and I compete with them in dog agility, so trimmed nails are a must. During the pandemic, my dogs had been booked at the groomers for a bath and nail clip, but with all the lock down measures, I was rescheduled 3 times. Check with Australian Victorinox representative and they said that the have no stock and can't do any refund/repair/exchange. I was sick of having nail clippers wearing out after a couple of uses so I assumed that a Swiss army set would be durable. In this I am not disappointed, they will probably last longer than me. They way they are to be used, with the file resting open on your hand is less convenient than the cheaper short lasting versions; they would be better without the file. I have also found that in less than 2 weeks the bar you press on to cut has started sticking in the closed position after cutting. I wanted to use this product for trimming my toenails. I thought the angle would be helpful. The angle was good but the shape of the cutting blades were not good. Too rounded and short. Because of the shape, the clippers chewed the toe nails instead of clipping them. The clippers are fine for finger nails. I did look at the photos in the description of the product and saw only one photo of use on toe nails. It is very time consuming compared to regular clippers. It works a lot better as a "finishing touch" after clipping nails with a regular pair of clippers. I would consider it more of a nail filer than a trimmer. It was bought for an elderly person who thought they would really like to have one, but was highly disappointed. It definitely doesn't deserve to be called an electric nail "clipper" and should be called an electric nail filer. And as with most "as seen on T.V.," even if it was advertised as an electric nail filer it would still get some bad reviews for a disappointment; but maybe more than just 1 star. Would suggest you not waste your money if you're looking for something for the elderly (say, like with arthritis) that can't use nail clippers. Was thinking of ordering two – one for myself and one to give as a gift. Am I glad I didn't. The only good thing I can truthfully say about this product is that it does eventually give one's nails a smooth and even edge, Otherwise, the process is very slow and I really don't see much difference between the side that is suppose to trim and the side that files.The major complaint is the "ON & OFF" switch. More times than not, after switching this product off, it keeps running. This morning out of the blue I heard a buzzing sound. After searching for a while I discovered the Roto Cliper had started running on its own. It is clear from some of the negative reviews that some might think this tool will CUT your nails, it will not, but will TRIM them very nicely, and file them smoooth. I have very thick, strong nails, and didn't have huge expectations that this would tackle them, but when I lowered my expectations of it actually cutting my nail down from long to short, and followed the instructions for soaking the nail first, it worked great (now, instead of soaking, I just use it after a shower when my nails are already soft). This is a TRIMMER, and if used a couple of times a week after a shower, it does a terrific job. I have arthritic hands, and this has made a once difficult task much easier. It does not do the corners of your nails well at first, but once you get the hang of it, and keep your nails trimmed properly, the corners get easier to do. Also helps to keep a very fresh battery in it, bogs down a bit when the battery starts to drain.beebsinnc

I got a pair of Revlon nail clippers in 1984 that lasted 30+ years. I recently bought this pair expecting the same level of satisfaction but was greatly disappointed instead. They make a strange clicking noise when being used. They even fell apart at one point! I reassembled them hoping they would be better than before they broke. Unfortunately not. I'm trying to decide if I'm going to buy another Revlon clipper. I'm so sad the quality wasn't top-notch like my first experience.Josie
