I received Essie Smooth-E basecoat as a #freeproduct to try for my honest review from #topboxcircle #trytopbox. I had never heard of this basecoat so I was intrigued as it stated it was a ridge filler and would give my nails a smooth finish to apply polish. I use a lot of dark colours especially blue that has a tendency to stain my nails. I did find that with the initial application it gave my nails a matte finish with an almost grippy feel and then I applied my Essie polish in a nice deep blue. It did dry quickly before I applied the polish. I have had the blue nail polish on for a few days and did find my nails chipped almost the next day so that was a little disappointing. The finish was nice and clean looking like a mani should be. I am not overly impressed though. I feel that there are better products on the market.CeeZee39

I absolutely love the entire Essie line, they always have high quality products. It’s my go to for my mani/pedis. The only issues I’ve come across is that my nail polish never lasted a week. It would constantly chip off, but since trying out this base coat that Essie brilliantly thought of, I no longer have that issue. Initially I was a bit skeptical about this product claiming to smooth the ridges in my nails. I recently had acrylic nails taken off and the removal process wrecked havoc on my nails. The surface of my nails were uneven and they were peeling. When I applied the base coat, I noticed that it filled in the weak spots in my nails. When I applied the nail polish on top, my nails felt so smooth. You would not be able to tell that my nails were damaged. I'm only on week 3 of the process, which is a month long, but so far I've absolutely loved this nail strengthener! I've tried tons of other nail strengtheners, including a $25 one, and this is the best one I've used so far. It doesn't tint the tips of your nails or turn them yellow, and it has a very natural sheen–not too glossy. My nails are stronger than they've ever been. I have only chipped a nail once, and that was at my job during the first week of using this strengthener (I work a pretty hands on, physical job). Long ago I gave up on my nails, trying to just handle them short to curtail their peeling and splitting tendencies. Last march I had a shellac mani to be fancy for a wedding and it ruined my already quite pathetic nails. After several months of trying to grow out a vertical split that had resulted I searched for something that would strengthen them enough to at least get back to normal shorties. Well, I saw this product and the reviews and thought i would give it a try. I did follow directions to the letter, which helped and it was at a vacation time for me so I could stay on track. After the first two weeks I had never seen my nails so 'non splitty' , and something in this is definitely fortifying them. After the initial two weeks I went into the 2 week every other day schedule, and I went ahead and purchased the soy remover as well. Pros: much 'cleaner' product line than any I see. Virtually no odor or strong smell, makes application pleasant. Products work better than any I ever used on my mid 50's nails! Cons: none yet, and I just ordered from the Labor day sale. Okay, this color is the CUTEST color of them all. This polish is thick and very pigmented rather than the regular essie nail polishes. This one strengthens your nails super well too! I had acrylics for 2 weeks then took them off and my nail beds were thin and very bad (dry/brittle) but after I used this nail polish for a week and after taking the polish off my nails were thicker and also hydrated!! I definitely LOVE this polish and recommend it for anyone who wears acrylics/gel nails a lot!! It's a great treatment to get your nails back in shape. When I took my old nail polish off this week my nails were peeling, which has never happened to me before. I sought out this product after trying 2 different brands “repairing” polish that were pretty terrible. At the store, there were two bottles labeled Minimally Modest but they were noticeably different, even after I shook them. I chose the one that was more pink vs. peach. I applied two coats and it looked pretty at first, but in daylight it’s really streaky. I think the streaks would be filled with three coats but the color would have been too light and opaque for a sheer polish. The formula seems smooth, feels good on my nails, and is long wearing, so I came here looking for another color. I’ll give it one more try and hope for better results.EvaE1izabeth

I had been curious about this product for a while, and when I found it marked down from it's original $10 price tag, I figured I'd give it a go. It's supposed to help dry, brittle nails in a week's time. I'm not sure about that. Essie has never been a brand that performs like a champ for me. It's okay, but I've always had better results from cheaper brands like Sinful Colors or comparable brands (price-wise) like Orly or OPI. Essie has come to be a brand that will get my attention, but I'll be looking at Sinful Colors, Orly and OPI first, and then I'll see what Essie has to offer. I like that this is a base coat that can be worn alone and it's supposed to have brightening pigments, kind of like a BB cream, but for nails. As something akin to a BB cream, it's pretty good. Just one coat and my nails look brighter and a bit healthier. Two coats, and even more so. With the second coat, the pearliness comes out and in some lighting my nails look a bit like the inside of a seashell, for what that's worth. It's subtle, though, so I like it for low-key polish.The contents are faintly lavender with a tiny hint of pearl to them, doing a nice job of concealing yellowing due to wearing nail polish most of the time. It actually makes a better difference on my nails than some other pale/sheer/pearl nail polishes, and it is a much nicer result than some other brands' sheer tinted polishes which I've tried in years past. This is basically what I was hoping for in a sheer, tinted product, so I'm very pleased with it. I don't even care if it strengthens my nails or makes them less brittle (it would be a nice occurrence, however, if it did) but I like that this makes my naked nails look nicer and I can easily apply one coat in a hurry for prettier nails on the fly. (Dry time is okay; it's pretty speedy for a single coat, but a second coat stays a bit tacky for slightly longer than I'd like.) Since it's a basecoat, I know it will at least make my nails somewhat less likely to chip. i have nails that wouldn't grow and when they finally start to grow breaks so easy. But i put my every word on this product. I have used about every nail strengtheners and growth on the market. But this one is everything in one it grows your nails on 3 days they are strong and all stay the same size. i really LOVE this product and recommends it to anyone that has trouble growing your real nails out. These are my real nails. I used to wear fake nails and my nails were so Damaged, I needed a change. My nails are strong, long, and better than ever. 10/10 would recommend using this. These products are inexpensive, and you can find them at Walmart and Amazon (amongst others). These products make your nails very strong, and protect them successfully from breaking. I have not had any breakage since I started using them. Previously I used a different nail hardener, but had breakage with that one.

I have used Nail Tek products for about 20 years, as their nail treatment/therapy products have worked wonders for me. My nail used to never grow. I began using Nail Tek, #2 with the cuticle/nail oil when preparing for my wedding in hopes to grow my own nails. They grew, and became stronger than ever before, less brittle and less prone to breakage. I’ve used nearly all of the Nail Tek treatment line and recommended to many! Only downside is you should apply it almost daily, which makes the clear treatment thicker and harder to apply. I bought this nail polish because it is plant base, which is something I have really been trying to look for in my beauty products lately. It was about $10 a bottle at CVS, so it’s comparable to Essie and OPI. I have to say, I really love this polish! I’ve had it on for 5 days now and it’s only starting to chip a little at my tips! It took 3 layers to apply a smooth and finished look. I will say it dried fast and I was rather surprised by that for liquid or polish. I however was not a fan of this color. It really just didn’t look good with my skin tone. Maybe in the summer when I’m tan? But it’s a no for me right now. The actual polish itself held up as to be expected for any nail polish. 2-3 days before I had noticeable chipping. Smell was still the same as typical polish smell, I’m not sure if I thought it would be different because it’s Vegan? All around the polish isn’t terrible. I received the shades 345 Smokey Quartz and 410 Black Stone which are beautiful colors. The purple is light but has a grayish tint to it and shines really pretty and the black is a deep black and gives off a beautiful shine. The polish itself gives off a great color and smooth look but with one coat is just too thin, I did at least two coats to create a good layer and look. This polish is a very runny formula in my opinion so took some patience not to make a mess with it and drying time isn’t too long but the the turn out is pretty good and last a good few days before it starts to chip off. This brand is my go-to nail polish. I love that the bottles aren't obnoxiously huge and I can travel with them. They are also made of thick glass and I have dropped them on numerous occasions and no catastrophe of nail polish on my floors. Could you imagine? I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this nail hardener. It keeps my nails super protected – they're prone to break and they haven't broken since I started using it. It adds a shine that makes my nails look like gel nails, which I love because gel manicures just destroy my nails. However, the shine is not very long lasting but I usually apply a coat whenever my polish is looking dull and it dries in 1 minute, which is so much more time-conscious than going to a salon to get a high-shine finish or just redoing my nails entirely. It also keeps the polish from chipping, and it's not one of those hardeners that cracks after 2 or 3 days. I seriously love this product. I do like the way this looks on my nails. It looks thicker on the nail than other top coats. However, you have to be like Goldilocks with application and use an amount that’s just right. If you use too much- your nails will never dry! Or you’ll think they are dry and then end up with a “dent” in one of them the next day. You must follow the instructions! I thought I knew how to paint my nails, already… but this is a bit different. I gave it 3 stars because of the price. You pay a lot of money for such a tiny bottle. I got this free about a year ago and will absolutely be buying when I run out. The nails on my ring fingers are thinner than my other nails and used to break frequently, with this they feel just as strong as my regular nails and I can actually grow them out. All of my nails break much less than they used to and only when I really jam them. It works well as a base coat (longevity of my Mani is similar to seche vite or opi base coats) and is also great by itself. It makes my nails shiny and healthy looking. Wow! I’ve been getting acrylics on and off since my early teens (now early 30’s) and the only time I’ve ever been able to grow my nails without them peeling or breaking, is when I had on acrylics…. It took me weeks to finally get it in the mail, but I really like this product. My nails are badly damaged from gels and acrylics. The pink color is ok but would not be my choice. It does let me see where it has worn off on the edges more easily though. My nails are easily broken and thin to begin with, so damaged they are very fragile. This is good for growing them out, and having some color helps hide the damage. I would like a shimmery nude color better, but that is personal preference.Merry B.

This is the Orly Nailtrition treatment polish and it retails for $15 at Ulta. This is suppose to be a nail strengthener for peeling and splitting nails. The formula is thick, shiny, and pink. I was hoping for something more clear. Not a deal breaker. It makes the nails appear bright and shiny. I recently wanted to take a break from getting my nails done and had the acrylic removed. My nails were peeling and thin underneath. I thought I would give this product a try and after a month, I’m really not impressed. It did not make my nails any stronger, nor did it help them grow. I really did not have any expectations of this product when I first started using it but figured it was worth a shot. I had acrylics for over a decade and then had to stop during the pandemic. My natural nails were so damaged, brittle and peeling, I had given up the idea of having nice nails again. The whites of my nail tips started growing back within 48 hours! I’ve slaughtered my nails after using press-on nails with nail glue and salon gel manicures, but it was a stupid habit to get into because I have lovely, long, strong, and white-tipped nails naturally. I loved this product. Tbh I have completely ran out cause I used it almost every other day. A little story here so be warned: For 20 years I have struggled with anxiety, well with that I had a nervous habit of picking at my nails till they were in the quick. I have used other products from this brand and have been very disappointed. This one has left me very surprised. I've only used it twice so far, and it seems to work great. Can I say that I've seen growth within 3 days? Honestly, I can't really tell. However, I have noticed a definite change in my nail strength. I work a lot with my hands when I make costumes and clothing, and my nails tend to break, chip and crack. Since I started using this, my nails seem stronger. Ok so I’ve been trying this for 3 months and I haven’t seen any noticeable difference in nail growth rate. However! I have very brittle nails that break and peel if they get long so I’ve always been on the lookout for something that helps and this works wonders! I keep getting compliments on my nails and how I can actually grow them now. I followed the directions for use as applying 2 coats every 3 days and I haven’t had any problems with peeling or my nails breaking when they get longer. I would suggest also painting underneath the nail tip to strengthen both sides. I would recommend for people with brittle nails, but don’t expect faster nail growth. Before the COVID situation I would get a gel manicure every two weeks. And now, I do not see myself going back to the nail salon. This mega formula lasts! My nails stay unchipped for 6 days straight! And when they started chipping it was only at the very tip of the nail! I typically only ever need two coats and I dont use a clear top coat. The colors are so pretty! The brush is super skinny I was worried at first, but it's super good, coverge and application is easy! I take off with regular acetone and comes right off – not sure about the glitter ones because I dont have any glitter colors yet, but I imagine it would take a little more effort to remove as with all glitter polishes. I would definitely recommend this nail product if you also struggle with brittle nails prone to breakage. I use the clear as a base coat (although I wouldn’t wear it alone because it can look a little yellow, which seems to be common with clear coats, but figured I would mention it) and I do notice a difference – almost if my nails feel as if they’ve been more fortified. I would be curious to see if using one of the Mega Strength hardener pigmented shades on top of the clear coat would amplify its effect. I always struggle with painting my own nails in the first place, and I'm always looking for a top coat to make my nails look shiny and smooth like a gel polish but also dries fast. This top coat does just that. Sometimes I even use it alone to give my nails a nice shine. It doesn't stay tacky for very long and covers/smooths out any small imperfections in my base coat of color. The brush is big and wide which allows the whole nail to be covered in two swipes. It makes my nails feel very striong as well. Very nice polish! My only complaint is that the top coat peels off easily, especially around the cuticles. It doesn't take much to get a chip in it which also takes the underneath color off as well. It works well if you're the type to change the color of your nails every week but I like to get as long as possible out of my polishes so it is kind of frustrating. My daughter bought me this a year ago (by accident – she thought it was the polish). I've used the polish before and found that it you miss a day, the nail crumbles where it chips off so I was quite glad! It doesn't work overnight but over months it really has made a huge difference. I used only this product on my nails (twice a day) for about one month. I wanted to see if it would work. I was going to give up on it, but I started seeing results. My nails have always peeled and broken easily. My nails are now stronger, thicker, longer and not peeling. I have sensitive skin and this item did not cause any irritation like some nail products do. I have also long used a ceramic/glass file, instead of an emery board, which can separate layers of the nail. The only suggestion I have on the Vitamin Strength Serum is that I think a brush would have worked better. I also wanted to comment on the packaging of item. I like that you can see through the bottle. I have used the "Nail Growth Serum" in the dark gold colored bottle. It works well, but I don't like how you can't see how much product is remaining in bottle. Also, like others commented, I did not like the dropper that bottle has.Lou1

This is my go to nail growth, strengthener polish. When I use it my nails are harder to break and they grow like crazy! It's easy to add polish over as well. We also discovered that it shows up under a black light. I have recommended it to every one. If you are having issue with your nails getting weak and breaking, give this a shot. The smell is like most nail polishes and can be strong but it dries super fast. It's worth the search for it. I have found it at grocery outlet, Walmart, Walgreens, Dollar general had it once. And several other stores. Sometimes it in the as seen on tv section.star.p

I've bought this before but ran out, so my nails have been weak and breaking. My twin, just by chance, was asking me what's the best strengthenter on the market. I know a lot about nails, and initially got on Wal-Mart to see if they carried it and was thrilled to find it! I bought some and so did my twin. We both adore the pink hue tint this gives off. She called me immediately and said, "You're right, this stuff instantly makes my nails harder!" I told her if you apply two coats, leave on for 2days, reapply again, then take it off in 5 days, to do all over again every week, you will get amazing long term results!!! I've been using this nail gel for a year or two and I use it mainly for the finish on my nails 💅. It leaves a light pink color on the nails, it isn't completely clear. I really love the way it makes my nails look. It dries really quick compare to other nail gels and for me it has worked wonders.🥰 Yes, my nails still chip but not because the gel is bad. It's because I don't wear the gel all the time and I carry a lot of boxes at work so I'm prone to damaging my nails easily. After I had acrylics on, my nails very super thin and brittle and wouldn’t grow! I’ve had strong nails my whole life and hadn’t experienced this before with acrylics so I was willing to try anything! This was recommended to me and after a few weeks my nails stopped breaking down and felt revitalized. Just go with the 3.88 Nail Aid brand instead of this outrageously priced top coat. It's not on sale so it's $10 and the first coat is very bumpy. Second coat smoothes it out but 2 days later and it's chipping. Honestly it's a total waste of money and I'll be buying Nail Aid from now on.Katie

Russian Navy is such an OPI classic colour. The sapphire blue is perfect for Autumn/Winter seasons. It isn’t a garish blue that we wore when we were 12, but a sophisticated colour to wear daily. Before the COVID situation I would get a gel manicure every two weeks. And now, I do not see myself going back to the nail salon. This mega formula lasts! My nails stay unchipped for 6 days straight! And when they started chipping it was only at the very tip of the nail! I typically only ever need two coats and I dont use a clear top coat. The colors are so pretty! The brush is super skinny I was worried at first, but it's super good, coverge and application is easy! I take off with regular acetone and comes right off – not sure about the glitter ones because I dont have any glitter colors yet, but I imagine it would take a little more effort to remove as with all glitter polishes. Not sure why people buy the $10+ nail polishes like Essie and OPI, when you can get two of these instead!! I would get all the colors if i could! Don't hesitate, get this polish!rissy808

I would definitely recommend this nail product if you also struggle with brittle nails prone to breakage. I use the clear as a base coat (although I wouldn’t wear it alone because it can look a little yellow, which seems to be common with clear coats, but figured I would mention it) and I do notice a difference – almost if my nails feel as if they’ve been more fortified. I would be curious to see if using one of the Mega Strength hardener pigmented shades on top of the clear coat would amplify its effect. Sally Hansen has long been a company I can trust in terms of quality and performance, and this product further solidifies my perception of their (well-deserved) place in the nail game.danielle.m

I always struggle with painting my own nails in the first place, and I'm always looking for a top coat to make my nails look shiny and smooth like a gel polish but also dries fast. This top coat does just that. Sometimes I even use it alone to give my nails a nice shine. It doesn't stay tacky for very long and covers/smooths out any small imperfections in my base coat of color. The brush is big and wide which allows the whole nail to be covered in two swipes. It makes my nails feel very striong as well. Very nice polish! My only complaint is that the top coat peels off easily, especially around the cuticles. It doesn't take much to get a chip in it which also takes the underneath color off as well. It works well if you're the type to change the color of your nails every week but I like to get as long as possible out of my polishes so it is kind of frustrating. But the speed of drying makes up for the peeling.natalie.e

Im anemic, have hypothyroidism, and have a long history of chronic nail biting, but I think my nail problems were primarily from my medical conditions than the damage Ive most likely done to my nails over the years. My nails were extremely flimsy, you could bend them all the way back over themselves, if they dried out they lost the flexibility and became brittle, breaking off if you so much looked at them wrong, my toenails are pretty much still that way because Im not interested in showing them off but I have started moisturizing them because it feels good never realized how awful extremely dry nails felt!When the polish is removed, my nails are still pretty flimsy but not to the degree that they were before, like nice thick cardstock vs regular paper. With the polish on, especially the more coats I do, they are super strong and resist damage like crazy! Ive accidentally bent my nails opening bins get them caught on the lid lip and doing various things involving my hands, but they didnt break and while they looked damaged initially they looked completely fine and normal the next day, I was shocked! Like it never happened! In all my life Ive never had that happen with my nails, ever. With one coat I can flex them a little bit, right now I have 3 coats on and I cant flex them at all. Ive done maybe 2 weeks of application now, will update with how things have progressed with more applications, interested to know if my nails will continue getting stronger or stay as they are!I also use a Vitamin E serum on my nails/nailbeds and try to moisturize my hands regularly to also help things. Im also OCD and a chronic hand washer I touch anything slightly, I wash my hands and Ive tried to lessen the amount I wash my hands as well around the house, if we go out Im using sanitizer and washing due to covid!Sarah

Overall a great product. Great quality, it doesn’t chip easily, longer durability compared to other brands and has a fair price. That is already enough for me. I can go closer to 3 weeks if I want to. This also dries very quickly. Now, the only cons… this is a very watery nail polish so you need to apply a few times to cover everything, but I can live with that. From all the brands that are currently in the market with a fair price, OPI has been my go to.jessica.p

Duri products are amazing! I’ve worn acrylics since 1981 with only brief periods without to rest my nail beds. It got to the point, however, that my natural nails were so soft that acrylic would no longer adhere. Then I discovered Rejuvacoat 1 and 2. In less than three weeks, my natural nails have never been so strong or long. I also purchased several polishes and have been pleased with them as well. The polish goes on easily and doesn’t chip. I had acrylic nails for over 20 years and when the pandemic hit last year, I removed the acrylic nails. Have been trying to get my nails back in better shape. They are thin and brittle and one has been splitting down the entire length of the nail for nearly one year. The dryness of the nails cause breakage with just a little bump to them. Saw this and thought I would try it. I have only applied it for 2 days and so far, it makes my nails feel stronger and I haven't seen any breakage or splitting since the 1st application.
