Two five gallon buckets of nails. With breaks, This was an accomplishment for a women who isn't very handy and kinda lazy lol. This thing made it so easy. It knocked about 45% of the nails out completely from the boards but the nails were large ones and my air compressor would not get over 120psi. I believe if I had a better air compressor it would have knocked more completely out of the boards. Even with the ones that did not come all the way out it was very easy to pull them out after the air gun was used.. I was able to straighten the nails that were bent with ease. There were a few nails that went flying all the way across the yard. I did not have the greatest set up as far as my work area but I am a female that does not have a shop. Pleased with how this works. Was a little skeptical when I saw how small it was and how little it weighed. Forget all that, it does what it's supposed to and more. I have a bad shoulder and I still have to pull the nails from the other side but this takes care of half the work. If the nail is bent, just straighten it out as you put the tool over the nail and bend the nail till it's straight and pull the trigger. Sometimes it will knock the nail completely out of the board. One issue that we have found is that there should be a warning on the device about the danger of injury to anybody standing downstream of the device, since the nails become projectiles once they are driven from the timber when the device is used on thinner pieces of timber. This tool was designed to be used to fix wire fences. For that it is excellent. I reclam hard wood for making furniture. For this job is it is useful for some nails. I saw videos of it used to remove nails that were cut off. They showed the tool digging below the surface of the wood to grab the nail shank. In soft wood like pine it works but in hard wood you must use a chisel or hole saw to first expose the nail shank before using this tool. I have removed a thousand nails. This is the tool that I go to last when none of the other methods work. I am glad that I own one of theses. I recommend buying it, but it's difficult to use. This was purchased to replace a broken, older one that I bought back in the 70’s. These will easily pull 20d nails in old wood. Quite A feat! It is basically a slide hammer that drives a set of pinchers around the nail head. The pinchers close under the nail head when you pull back on the fulcrum, allowing the nail to be done and be pulled in one slick motion. When I received this tool the paint was already coming off, so I was concerned about the workmanship. Hopefully it won't rust as it's not exactly a inexpensive tool. However, it did work well for me in removing sheets of plywood from an interior wall (with most nails sunken in.) Before finding this tool I was doing a lot more damage to the plywood. Once I got the hang of using it, this tool helps limit the damage to the area around the nail head. Someone recommended a cats paw tool–which worked (for me) on nails that were not beneath the surface. But this nail-puller did better to dig out nails and also worked on smaller head finishing/paneling nails. Overall, I do like this tool though I think it could be updated from it's 'vintage' design.
