Black Tea Hot Toddy with Rum
Hot Toddies are one of my favorite cocktails to enjoy through fall and winter. The cinnamon, cloves, and bitters really bring out the flavors in the rum and make this a soothing, aromatic drink that’s perfect for sipping on those chilly days. It’s also an amazing remedy for colds and sore throats making those sick days a lot more enjoyable! Whether you’re actually sick or just faking (I’ll never tell!), you’ll love the spin on this classic!

(makes 1 drink)
Ingredients:
1 cup of water
1 cinnamon stick
5-6 whole cloves
2-3 dashes of Angostura bitters
2 black tea bags (use chai spice tea for a really bold flavor)
1 Tbs honey
2oz Sailor Jerry Rum
1 lemon wedge
Combine water, cinnamon stick, cloves, and bitters in a small saucepan and bring to a boil over high heat. Remove from heat and add tea bags. Allow mixture to steep for 3-5 minutes.
Remove tea bags and stir in honey until dissolved. Strain into a mug, add cinnamon stick, and discard cloves. Add the rum, squeeze lemon juice in, and serve!
