Probably one of the coolest things about hippies is that hippie culture was arguably really only a thing for a handful of years, yet has continued to have a permanent influence. it unofficially started around 1964 thanks to american novelist ken kesey and his merry pranksters (some of whom you now know as the grateful dead). their psychedelic and communal exploits – later chronicled by merry prankster member tom wolfe in "the electric kool-aid acid test" – attracted a legion of young adults who, intrigued by the developing psychedelic hippie music scene, dropped out of school and moved to san francisco and la to be a part of the "tune in, turn on, and drop out"movement. hippies rose to the forefront of mainstream culture in 1967, the summer of which was famously coined "the summer of love" thanks to the rise of psychedelic culture, a surge of california music festivals, and heightened protests concerning the us military involvement in vietnam. the hippie movement culminated in woodstock in 1969, then quickly (as in, only four months later) faded into widespread disillusionment after the tragic deaths that took place at the altamont free concert and the after that, the peace and love of the hippie movement started to slowly decline, first fading with five deaths at the altamonte music festival, and finally deep-diving into disillusionment with the "helter skelter" killings done by the manson family. but anyway! take yourself back to a more free lovin' time and instantly transform into a flower child with this groovy hippie wig. add some rose-colored glasses and some clothes that don't match, and you'll be ready to let the rainbows flow free!

This product appears well made and has a good price but the pictures of it are misleading. They call it a wig which would indicate a full wig. It is only pigtails and bandana. It requires a hat to be worn with it. Showing a guy wearing it with matching blond hair is completely misleading.DRMil

The wig in the photograph on the package of the product looked much different than the actual wig when I got it. The wig in the photograph looked like a full one length wig with bangs, very much like Garth's actual hair. The wig that I got was not all one length, but instead had strange short layers cut on the top of it and the bangs as well. It looks more like some sort of hair metal band wig. The bangs aren't really there they kind of stick out, and straight up and the top of the wig has lots of hair sticking up as well. The underneath layer is so thin that you can almost see through it. It does not look like Garth's hair, nor does it look like the package. You can even see the netting on the top of it. I was hoping that I would get what I thought I was buying. I know that I got a cheap deal on the wig and glasses kit, but I think that the wig should look like what the package shows that it looks like.viviacour-0

Not the best quality but what does one expect. My wife really looked like Garth when she put it on. You may want to take your skin coloring in to account. I am fairly tan and it didn't work on me that well. But it was an easy costume to wear all night long. I would recommend it. This wig is good value but doesn't fully look like the one on the packet. It has the SNL branding inside so it's definitely the right wig. However, the hair on top is much shorter and spikier than appears on the packet – I opened mine a couple of weeks before wearing and put it on something in the hope that it would settle down following being stuck in the packet, but it didn't. I tried to style it with my hands and with a hairbrush/comb but it just kept spiking back up, rather than laying flat like in the picture. Overall, decent enough for what it is though.media-emma
