Reviews:
The Carrie is the only wig I should ever own. I have had metastatic breast almost 5 years. I have had chemo 2 different times in 5 years and lost my hair twice. I was always afraid to spend the money on a human hair wig since I thought I might not make it. I sell real estate to support myself and I needed to look nice and polished. I wore the same synthetic wig and bought a new one every 2 months because it just did not hold up. Two months ago I was diagnosed with a brain tumor due to the metastatic breast cancer and had to shave the back of my hair due to surgery and radiation. I finally had several coupons and before Christmas bought a human hair Carrie wig. It has been beyond beautiful! I feel like a whole person when I wear this week. It has increased my self confidence and brought some sunshine back in my life. I am 55 and the Carrie wig is so pretty I actually get treated so much better by every one I have had contact with. Even had 2 real estate sales in January. Thank you for making this Carrie wig.marie o.
The wig looked pretty great straight out of the box. I got a lot of compliments, which was great cause this was my first wig and I was really nervous about it looking too wiggy. I blend the lace front with my natural hair line and it looks pretty realistic. However, the wig came in way lighter than I was expecting and I plan on dying it darker. I order it in 12FS8, expecting it to be a dark blonde/ light brown and it was straight up yellow-blonde. The highlights, lowlights, and rooting are really nice and give it more of a realist look, but I still needed to dye it darker to be able to blend my hair line with the lace front. The first weekend I wore it I got caught in a rain storm and the wig frizzed super bad. I tried using some product to smooth it out (trying to avoid heat styling as not to damage the hair) but it's still pretty frizzy. I'm sure a flat iron can fix it, so I don't think its a huge deal. All in all, I'll probably buy again if I don't find something better.Chris
I recently received “Carrie” in Palm Sprngs Blonde. The wig is beautiful, versatile and light. Mine dried naturally with nice waves. It’s the most comfortable wig I’ve worn. This is my first human hair wig; I’ve been wearing synthetics for 3 years. Based upon my happy experience, I’m planning to invest in a longer, more expensive human hair wig next. One note: human hair wig colors will tend to be warmer than their synthetic counterparts and what shows for the swatch online. This human hair wig is a little darker and warmer than my synthetic wigs in Palm Springs Blonde, but Jon Renau makes a shampoo called In Tone Violet that will cool down the warm tones. I still highly recommend this wig!Yvonne

Reviews:
After a hysterectomy & menopause that followed resulting in 1/4 of my hair gradually thinning and trying every supplement including PRP treatments I realized preserving the hair I had was the focus, since after 5yrs and thousands of dollars later, the hair that had thinned was not going to grow back. I work in the medical field, at an Oncology / Bone Marrow Transplant Center so the topic of wigs is something I'm very familiar with. Many of the patients I work with rave about Jon Ranau wigs so I figured I'd give that brand a try. I've purchased a couple so far to ensure I have a new backup always on hand and plan to venture into other styles & colors but so far I'm extremely pleased with the quality of the cap/top & synthetic hair, style & color and it's so easy to maintain!
The wig was already thinning in the front when I got it and I can't hide this with bio hair because the lace is too long (can't cut the lace because it is the only thing gripping the front, there are no clips). I don't recommend this piece for people with small/low foreheads, maybe if you are completely bald with no bio hair it might work for you but not if you have pale skin because the knots are very dark and the lace is tan. I tried to straighten the hair on low heat and it made a melting smell, I question if all the hair is real. The cap is also extremely itchy and the lace is not soft (because the lace grips) so it is uncomfortable when it sits on my forehead. I would need to sew in clips and then seal off the lace so it doesn't unravel when trimmed, but for $2000 I would expect this to be of better quality. I own many wigs and hair toppers, I am always disappointed in Jon Renau but I took a risk because I liked the color. The Jon Renau brand is not carried much anymore because their pieces are just not worth the price. I am just going to have to stick with Uniwigs because at least I know what to expect and they are keeping up with the trends for comfort and affordability.LS
The hair piece is nicely made and the color was spot-on. I really, really wanted to like this wig. My overall problem was the style… and was in a few of the reviews I had read prior. The front part was over bearing and so much so that it wouldn't stay out of my face…. almost like there was too much hair. While I didn't try to style the piece or trim to see if that would make a difference (didn't want to do anything in case I returned, which I did), so it's possible I could have made it work. But I just couldn't get past the front portion of the wig and all the volume; I couldn't figure out what to do with it! I am not new to hair pieces, wigs and extension pony-tails so I am aware that some effort is-or-might be necessary, etc., but it simply just looked fake on me. I only deducted 1 Star because it might have been fixable but $300.++ I didn't want to take that chance so I returned. But overall, the wig is pretty and the cap is comfy. Good luck!Susie

This is my first Human Hair wig and since I've had AU for 28 years I've not had to style hair…so WAY out of practice. Invested in the tools needed to style and product…still not there but wore it out for happy hour Friday and will continue to work on it! The color is perfect for me 🙂Nadine H.

This beautiful hair has become my go to wig. I wear her every day, and I always get compliments on my great hair. People absolutely don’t know she’s a wig, and are shocked when I tell them. She arrived in about a week, and went straight from the box to my head. She’s been there ever since. I hope that JR never stops making these and that you never stop selling them.Lucie S
I like the cut and color (Oyster) of this wig. It's easy to wear (once my stylist trimmed the bangs away from my face). The lace front however, has dark spots that are visible to others in daylight. Therefore, I'm wearing this one at night only. FYI, I recently bought a Raquel Welch Classic Cool (in R61 Palest Pearl) too, and its lace front does not have that problem.Olivia B.
This adorable bob is so fun and perfect for summer. It's my first blonde wig so I decided to try the 12FS8 Shaded Praline. I usually wear brunette colors and the dark root is a easy way to transition to the blondes! Ignite is SO SOFT the HD fibers are beautiful and not as much shine as the regular synthetic fibers. I have not used any heat on her yet because the cut is so perfect the way it is. Ear tabs are a little short on me and this only matters because I have a shaved head so I like the coverage, but the style frames the face in a great way that it works. The cap construction all in all is comfortable and cool to wear. I want to get Ignite in more colors because it is just so cute! Highly recommend it!Joanna A.

This is a lovely wig. I love that it's thinner and hand tied. I'm not a fan of the ear to ear lace. It tends to stick up around the ear tabs and you can see it. I've tried glue but it just cakes up on the lace and doesn't work anyway. I wish I had gotten the regular julianne with velvet ear tabs. I am so glad I tried the light version in the julianne before paying a ridiculous amount of money for the carrie light and realizing the lace ear tabs are terrible. At least there's that… other than the ear tabs I love this wig. Pictured is the palm springs blonde color.Valerie N.
If you have hair thinning or loss anywhere in the front, this will not work for you as you'll be pulling on those vulnerable hairs if you have any, yet it won't be enough to hold the piece in place safely, nor can you use adhesive on thinning hairs. Obviously the 3 front clips won't be of use if you have no hair in front; aybe you could remove all the clips and use adhesive instead if you have no hair. For me, with thinning hair, this was unworkable. I was excited about this item, but was left disappointed. Trying to be fair to the store, I kept the items (I bought two) rather than ask for another return. I shouldn't have kept them.Gerri
I have bought several regular January's in the past, and have always thought they had too much permatease, but would repurchase it because it is closest to the style and color I am looking for. This was my first January Hand Tied. I am pleased to say that it is exactly what I was hoping for. The best part is that there is NO permatease, which had always made it too hot to wear in the summer, and now I don't have to worry about wefts showing since there are none. The lace front on mine is fantastic in the color 14/25 – the highlighting and knotting is the best it's ever been. It is much less tiger-striped looking than it had been about 5 years ago. The hand tied January also has less density than regular January, so I only thinned it slightly in spots compared to my major thinning of regular January. Both versions of January tend to be less shiny than the straight versions of synthetics, which is a plus for me. The Jon Renau regular synthetic fibers last longer than the other brands I have tried as well.Brahm

My review of this wig is much like everyone else. Initially I loved it. Super soft and flowed nicely. But literally within a few wears it began to clump and just get matted quite easily on the ends. I actually didnt buy this wig because it was HD, I wanted it because of the length and style it already was. I would have much prefered it to have been regular synthetic. I have only washed it once using Jon Renau products /HD detangler and its so-so. My regular synthetic wigs become so beautiful again after a gentle wash and proper leave in spray. I think the HD fibre is a miss but the no shine factor is a plus. Jon Renau wigs tend to fit a bit loose on me so if youre more petite size you'll want to take that into consideration. It has a nice density though I did thin it out slightly but that is just because I have a small frame and most all of my wigs need to be thinned. It really is a nice style and I would love to have more of this unit if it was regular synthetic.Ashley B.
Unfortunately, I have been quite disappointed with this wig. I have only myself to blame that I’ve purchased it 2-3 times – it’s just that I really like the style, the cut, the comfort. As mentioned repeatedly in these reviews, I have also found it to fail expectations. It is great for the first handful of wearings – until it starts to become tangled and ratty in the back. And it only progresses to get worse from there. For me, it’s been the whole length and width of the back. There is little that can be done at that point. At least, not that I’ve found. It is so very frustrating!! This wig is just not worth the interest. Unfortunately, I say “Beware”!!Prinleah
Loved this wig the first minute i had it on.. but after wearing it three times and countless amounts of detangler i washed it and styled it and it still becomes a ratty shapelss mess. Spent almost $400 for wig and a cut. Never again! blonde 12FS8 *WIG EXPERT RESPONSE: We're so sorry to hear about the problem you're having. Your comments and review will be forwarded to Jon Renau to be addressed further. Unfortunately frizzing and matting is a common issue with any Heat-Friendly synthetic fiber. There are pros and cons to all hair fibers including human hair. if you haven't already tried the HD Smooth by Jon Renau we recommend you try that to de-frizz and repair any current unruliness. You can also take thin sections and flat iron the hair to smooth out the frizz. With wear these signs will return but styling and maintaining will allow you several months of wear. We hope we can assist you further and recommend you contact us so we can resolve this.Cheryl

Reviews:
Online reviewers seem to be avoiding this wig or making a big deal about how much permatease there is in it, so I was a little nervous about ordering it. But it turned out to look really cute on me, and I appreciate how the fullness on top balances out some of my facial features (and my large glasses), while the shag style also gives me some length in back. The melted marshmallow color looks good, too, although the pale tips aren't as obvious as they would be on a straighter, less layered style like Alva or Kai. The dark root does a good job of camouflaging the permatease at the part. The wig is also remarkably light and breathable. I think the fit is just a little on the petite side of average – I'm just over 21.5 inches in circumference with close-shaved hair, and it fits fine without taking in the adjusters. There seems to be a decent amount of stretch if you're larger than me, so it may work for someone up to 22 inches, or someone with more hair than me. I should note that Storm wasn't a true "shake & go" wig out of the box. The ends in back weren't always as flippy as the photos showed, and some of the bangs stuck straight out in front, even after misting with water. I used a steamer on the bangs to get them to lie where I wanted them and will eventually work on the flipped ends in back. I'd be more annoyed at this if I'd paid a lot more money, but I'm willing to accept a certain amount of work on my part for a basic cap at an affordable price point. All in all, I'm quite happy with my purchase, and I would encourage others who may be curious about this wig to check it out. Just be aware that it might not be perfect right out of the box and may need some work to look its best on you (work that should only be performed *after* you've determined you want to keep the wig).Patricia L.
I love this wig. It has great movement in the hair, very realistic. It is comfortable to wear. I can be a tough fit – need the average circumference but some wigs have too much gaping in the back of my head. This one isn't too bad, fits fairly well. The color is fabulous and I have gotten so many compliments on it. The length is perfect. I prefer myself with bangs and this one just meets all the criteria for me. Not bad for 69 on my way to 70 – wearing it makes me look, and feel, younger. I got it in Moonstone and now it seems that color doesn't exit any longer. Looks like Silverstone will be it next time.April B.
I ordered this in creamy toffee rooted after having it in mochachino. Somehow it looked better in the darker color. It's a beautiful wig if you can pin down the sides near the top, reducing the retro looking volume. I think this style is best suited for someone more statuesque. It's cute but it looks dated on me. Possibly just too young of a look at this point. The creamy toffee color though was very nice on this style, a little less gold with more light blonde running through it. That's a big improvement in the color because I've bought this color before and been disappointed with the gold.FAITH b.

Well, I finally learned my lesson. I cannot purchase clearance items any longer since every time I have, there has been something either wrong with the wig (manufacturing) or something I didn't like and there are no returns. There wasn't anything wrong with this piece. She just had way too much hair and the fibers were so dry they were like straw. It is a beautiful warm color but the density, the permatease and the dry fibers made this difficult to pull off. I thinned it out and tried to tame the permatease but it just didn't work. Plus, the fibers were like doll hair and so that was a dead giveaway. This was the third JR piece and all have pretty dry fibers. Is this normal? I did receive the piece quickly and as always WS1 is around to answer any questions.E.N.
I am a first time buyer, trying to figure out what fits and how to wear the wigs. I ordered 3 wigs in this first order, and two of them I can adjust and work with. But "Gwen" has very short hair and it looks nothing like the pictures! I had it on my head for a few seconds and couldn't stand the very short hair with no shape at all. It looked like a hedgehog, The color is nice, but this wig is too small, too short hair for my plus size figure: Gwen Wig by Jon Renau STRAWBERRY BLONDE AND WARM PLATINUM BLONDE BLENDED & TIPPED W STRAWBERRY BLONDE NAPE (27T613F). In all fairness, I only had it on my head a few seconds and took it off right away, I didn't try to make it look better, afraid to ruin the chance for return. It might be ok for someone else, but at 62 yrs old and plus size figure, that little wig was not even funny! I filled out the return label for "Gwen" but keeping the other two, with medium length hair: "Blushing Beauty" Wig by Gabor | Mono Part GL16/27 and the "Salsa" Wig by Raquel Welch | Large Cap R14/88H Golden Wheat. Those two are a bit large and I need to learn to adjust the tabs in the back, and I also need to figure out from the videos how to "style" them with my fingers so they look good for me. But looking forward to enjoying those two.Carmen
This is a cute summer wig for someone who doesn't want permatese. It's low density. I got 22F16 there is not enough dimension for me but I do feel someone looking for a well made no permatese, low density piece would be very happy with it. I did have lots of thick hair & I like some poof on top.I was going to give it away but it is growing on me using dry shampoo, piece out & hair spray. Even tho it's symmetrical you can achieve a asymmetrical look with some tucking. I have noticed many reviews/comments on various pieces that I feel expectations are often unrealistic. Let's face it we all don't look like the beautiful ladies,Eileen,Marlen or Taz much less the models. I have found often if I think I don't like something if I change my makeup, color I'm wearing wait a few days, wear it around the house, often one I thought I would send back grows on me. Also often they just need a bit of tweaking with a small trim here & there to make it my own. I imagine very few can just take most of them out of the box with INSTANT SUCCESS ! Even I expected it at 1st & being a Master Stylist (retired) should have known better. I guess what I'm trying to say to all those who are new like me is to be patient.S N.
