Well, I finally learned my lesson. I cannot purchase clearance items any longer since every time I have, there has been something either wrong with the wig (manufacturing) or something I didn't like and there are no returns. There wasn't anything wrong with this piece. She just had way too much hair and the fibers were so dry they were like straw. It is a beautiful warm color but the density, the permatease and the dry fibers made this difficult to pull off. I thinned it out and tried to tame the permatease but it just didn't work. Plus, the fibers were like doll hair and so that was a dead giveaway. This was the third JR piece and all have pretty dry fibers. Is this normal? I did receive the piece quickly and as always WS1 is around to answer any questions.E.N.
I am a first time buyer, trying to figure out what fits and how to wear the wigs. I ordered 3 wigs in this first order, and two of them I can adjust and work with. But "Gwen" has very short hair and it looks nothing like the pictures! I had it on my head for a few seconds and couldn't stand the very short hair with no shape at all. It looked like a hedgehog, The color is nice, but this wig is too small, too short hair for my plus size figure: Gwen Wig by Jon Renau STRAWBERRY BLONDE AND WARM PLATINUM BLONDE BLENDED & TIPPED W STRAWBERRY BLONDE NAPE (27T613F). In all fairness, I only had it on my head a few seconds and took it off right away, I didn't try to make it look better, afraid to ruin the chance for return. It might be ok for someone else, but at 62 yrs old and plus size figure, that little wig was not even funny! I filled out the return label for "Gwen" but keeping the other two, with medium length hair: "Blushing Beauty" Wig by Gabor | Mono Part GL16/27 and the "Salsa" Wig by Raquel Welch | Large Cap R14/88H Golden Wheat. Those two are a bit large and I need to learn to adjust the tabs in the back, and I also need to figure out from the videos how to "style" them with my fingers so they look good for me. But looking forward to enjoying those two.Carmen
This is a cute summer wig for someone who doesn't want permatese. It's low density. I got 22F16 there is not enough dimension for me but I do feel someone looking for a well made no permatese, low density piece would be very happy with it. I did have lots of thick hair & I like some poof on top.I was going to give it away but it is growing on me using dry shampoo, piece out & hair spray. Even tho it's symmetrical you can achieve a asymmetrical look with some tucking. I have noticed many reviews/comments on various pieces that I feel expectations are often unrealistic. Let's face it we all don't look like the beautiful ladies,Eileen,Marlen or Taz much less the models. I have found often if I think I don't like something if I change my makeup, color I'm wearing wait a few days, wear it around the house, often one I thought I would send back grows on me. Also often they just need a bit of tweaking with a small trim here & there to make it my own. I imagine very few can just take most of them out of the box with INSTANT SUCCESS ! Even I expected it at 1st & being a Master Stylist (retired) should have known better. I guess what I'm trying to say to all those who are new like me is to be patient.S N.

Reviews:
This is a lovely wig. I love that it's thinner and hand tied. I'm not a fan of the ear to ear lace. It tends to stick up around the ear tabs and you can see it. I've tried glue but it just cakes up on the lace and doesn't work anyway. I wish I had gotten the regular julianne with velvet ear tabs. I am so glad I tried the light version in the julianne before paying a ridiculous amount of money for the carrie light and realizing the lace ear tabs are terrible. At least there's that… other than the ear tabs I love this wig. Pictured is the palm springs blonde color.Valerie N.
If you have hair thinning or loss anywhere in the front, this will not work for you as you'll be pulling on those vulnerable hairs if you have any, yet it won't be enough to hold the piece in place safely, nor can you use adhesive on thinning hairs. Obviously the 3 front clips won't be of use if you have no hair in front; aybe you could remove all the clips and use adhesive instead if you have no hair. For me, with thinning hair, this was unworkable. I was excited about this item, but was left disappointed. Trying to be fair to the store, I kept the items (I bought two) rather than ask for another return. I shouldn't have kept them.Gerri
I have bought several regular January's in the past, and have always thought they had too much permatease, but would repurchase it because it is closest to the style and color I am looking for. This was my first January Hand Tied. I am pleased to say that it is exactly what I was hoping for. The best part is that there is NO permatease, which had always made it too hot to wear in the summer, and now I don't have to worry about wefts showing since there are none. The lace front on mine is fantastic in the color 14/25 – the highlighting and knotting is the best it's ever been. It is much less tiger-striped looking than it had been about 5 years ago. The hand tied January also has less density than regular January, so I only thinned it slightly in spots compared to my major thinning of regular January. Both versions of January tend to be less shiny than the straight versions of synthetics, which is a plus for me. The Jon Renau regular synthetic fibers last longer than the other brands I have tried as well.Brahm

7. Alia By Jon Renau – 32f
Product Details:
Alia is a layered contemporary bob that provides amazing movement and styling versatility. this wig combines the light comfort and natural looking growth of a mono top along with our exclusive smartlace technology which offers the most natural hairline available. no tape or glue needed!
Specifications:
Technology | SmartLace Cap |
Closure Type | Velcro |
Glueless | Yes |
Bang Length | 9" |
Crown Length | 10.5" |
Reviews:
This hair was so beautiful, but there was a major problem with both of the Alia's I've ordered. The first was a petite, and the part where the lacefront meets the wefting had very noticeable side tabs that did not have much hair to cover it, so it was very obvious. Then I ordered a regular Alia, and this time side tabs were fine, but in the front of the wig, there was so little hair that it was almost as bald as I am (see photo). I don't know how this passed inspection. I moved the wig cap back a little in the photo so it shows the lack of hair. There is a few dark hairs in the front of the photo, as that is the tiny bit of my biohair left, and shows where my natural hairline would be. I had the lace all of the way up to the hairline, but you can barely tell because there is so little hair in that part of the wig. The rest of the wig was just fine for density. I am afraid to order another Alia because I might get a third lemon. It is just such a beautiful style, and the Jon Renau caps are so very comfortable, it is hard to let this one go.brahm
I really want to love this wig. I like the cap, secure and comfortable, I have a petite/average head and the Alia in average size fits quite well. The hair on the mono top is a bit sparse. I love the cut and color which is Eclair, it actually has a natural looking root. The one thing I absolutely do not like about this wig is , it will not stay out of my face! I’ve tried absolutely everything and it will not stay out of my face. I will most likely cut a bang in it and then problem is solved. The lace on this wig is very scratchy and I had to trim it as it was way too long like maybe they forgot to trim it. Super cute style though and I believe I’d be interested in purchasing another one and hope it would work better.Lysa W.
No questions about the quality of this wig. Everything is top-notch! I tried a new color "Cinnamon Syrup" which I like a lot. As per usual, I brought it to my hair stylist for individualized shaping, which is sometimes minimal and other times more necessary. As you can see, this lace front is incredibly natural looking, and the mono top offers endless options for where to part the hair (if at all). The only problem I have with Alia is that the shorter face-framing sides were always falling into my face. My hairdresser layered these areas into long bangs which I think look very natural, but they still don't stay put. Maybe this won't happen to everyone, and maybe others aren't as bothered by bangs in the face as me. I decided to try using a fashion headband, which looked cute and kept my hair back, but I think for me, one Alia will be enough.BLinNJ

This topper is gorgeous. I tried so hard to make it work, but it didn't fit my head quite right. I have a petite sized head, and this has too much hair at the crown and looked quite big and poofy on me when pulled over the thinning area near my front hairline. It looked best sitting a little further back on my head, but then it didn't cover the thinning area. I'm totally in love with the color I chose, however, 12FS8 Shaded Praline, and it matched my natural hair quite well. Jon Renau has a great color selection, and I love the soft fibers too. The fibers are definitely too shiny, but a little dry shampoo should tone down the shine. I returned this piece and when I receive my store credit I have decided to apply it towards a full wig, Jon Renau Mila in petite. I always wanted wavy hair anyway!Sara
Love this topper! It’s my first top style in the 18†length. Salted Caramel is my top choice in the Renau line- beautiful light to medium browns, warmed with red undertones and bold, golden highlights. The top style 12†version has always required some thinning to avoid a helmet head effect. This 18†piece is perfect! I set it about 1/2†back from my hairline, so I thin the topper just a little at this area, so there is no bump, where the hairlines meet. Very happy with this topper!Cheryl
I have started experimenting with top pieces after wearing wigs for many years. My main hair loss is at the top of my head and the sides have gotten much thinner as well. I still have a good amount of hair at the back of my head. My biggest challenge is fastening the piece to the front because I don’t want to lose the little hair I have left. I’ve been using a roll-on sticky product and that helps. The many clips that come fastened on the piece hold the rest in place. With all that said, I had the piece trimmed while on my head to cut bangs into it and trimmed some of the length so that it integrates into the sides and back of my natural hair. It looks great and is very comfortable. I think it will be more comfortable that a full wig during the summer months in FL. I’m still experimenting with other top pieces to compare comfort and fit. I’ll add a picture or two soon. DE.

Love this piece! I typically shy away from toppers because I don't like trying to blend the hairline with my own hair, but since this has a lace front I decided to try it and am SO happy I did! I do use walker tape on the lace front and it stays in place beautifully. The clips are comfortable and don't cause me any pain which is wonderful. I bought the 18" topper and my bio hair is only to my shoulders, but it's not a problem because this topper has great coverage and my thin, fine hair just kind of melts right into it.Karree P.
This synthetic topper covers my hair loss so perfectly and naturally. The color and fullness is spot on. It is easy to clip on, blends beautifully with my hair underneath and got blended with my usually super messy hair underneath. When I received it, I took it to my stylist and he trimmed the front to echo how my hair used to look when I was younger. Easy and comfortable to wear all day working and running around. My n.

I have been hoping and waiting for a lite version of Rachel. My dreams have come true! Rachel is such a flattering style and is one of my favorites. I have the original. There is definitely a difference in the density between the two. She doesn't feel as thick. The lace front is beautiful, but a bit long. I may trim with my pinking shears. The curl pattern on my Rachel lite seems looser than original. I like this new pattern. The cap is super comfortable. I love this Rachel!Deanna K.
I bought 3 all in same color. All 3 arrived limp a d greasy in appearance and feel. The wigs are stringy and lifeless, sparce and give a stringy " Witch like" ends that fall flat. Despite attempting to get volume by comb, water, dry shampoo nothing gave it body, or altered the sparse string greasy appearance. I have made a 1200$$ mistake as I ordered 3.Sheryl C.

I love Jon Renau synthetic pieces in the colors 6 and 8/32. I have about 8 toppers and wigs in these colors. I purchased Bryce in color 6 and the the fibers felt terribly dry, crunchy and tangled. No matter how much silicon spray I used I just could not get these fibers to become manageable. The monofilament and stitching is also different than all of my other Jon Renau pieces. The monofilament is shiny, the knots are thicker, the lace folds and bubbles. The only good thing is the cap is not as massive as some of the other more recent wigs they’ve released. I’m petite-average and I could comfortably wear this wig. I am really hesitant to try any of their new styles after this complete waste of money. It’s just a mess and unwearable. I’ve never felt this way about a Jon Renau piece.Amy
The fibers in this wig are really dry…. I had a hard time with the bangs and mine wasn’t even close to the styles shown. The wig just kept shedding even after washing it. I have never had a wig shed so much. I’m not sure if it was a defect in the manufacturing or if that’s how they all are. Just wasted over $200 on a wig that I will never wear. Customer service wouldn’t do anything about it since I had washed it.Caryl
I was so excited for this wig. I own over 15 other Jon Reanu wigs in the same color – caramel ribbon and the color does not match any of my others, not even close. It is extremely brassy. Outside the color, the wig feels extremely dry and tangles a lot. It just doesn't feel like the same quality of the other Jon Renau wigs I own.Melissa O.

I bought it and I was afraid to wear it. I thought it looked crazy and over the top. I convinced myself to put it on and have received compliment after compliment. No one – and I mean no one – knew it was a wig. My own mother thought I went to a salon. It is the best purchase I've ever made for myself and I'm not kidding. The color was dark brown with highlights. 30? Very, very beautiful. Looking for my next wig.Sara G.

Beautiful curls, fuller at base. The long fringe fell forward until I cut some layers and applied steam while pinning it back, away from face. I put a clip at the nape and one on each ear tab, making it secure without a cap or grip. Very beautiful and just what I hoped it would be.Cheryl J.

Ignite is great! The color midnight cocoa blends in with my bio hair (hair line). I bought this wig in large cap size and fits me like a glove. Quality is good. Looks very natural. Wore it the whole day, doesn't feel like i'm wearing a wig. The cap is really comfortable on my head. This wig is a keeper!Cindy H.
My experience with Ignite in a regular size cap (and regulars of other brands) was that the cap would shrink away from my forehead during the day. I'd have to yank the top front down so that either my headband worn underneath the wig or my hairline didn't show. This was not a comfortable experience. I was so happy to get a Large Ignite in Salted Caramel, it was just so much more comfortable. Wish I'd been able to get it earlier. Please carry more wigs in large caps and thank you for doing this with Ignite.Julie H.
I love it. The medium was not comfortable. I loved it but I had a tumor removed from my brain and for comfort, I needed a little more room. I tightened it as much as I could and it is way more comfy. I wish you had gotten large in this wig before now. I have been wearing this style for a year. I am happier with the large. ThanksLoiann W.

I like the cut and color (Oyster) of this wig. It's easy to wear (once my stylist trimmed the bangs away from my face). The lace front however, has dark spots that are visible to others in daylight. Therefore, I'm wearing this one at night only. FYI, I recently bought a Raquel Welch Classic Cool (in R61 Palest Pearl) too, and its lace front does not have that problem.Olivia B.
This adorable bob is so fun and perfect for summer. It's my first blonde wig so I decided to try the 12FS8 Shaded Praline. I usually wear brunette colors and the dark root is a easy way to transition to the blondes! Ignite is SO SOFT the HD fibers are beautiful and not as much shine as the regular synthetic fibers. I have not used any heat on her yet because the cut is so perfect the way it is. Ear tabs are a little short on me and this only matters because I have a shaved head so I like the coverage, but the style frames the face in a great way that it works. The cap construction all in all is comfortable and cool to wear. I want to get Ignite in more colors because it is just so cute! Highly recommend it!Joanna A.
I bought this wig in venice blonde and the blonde looks so natural and pretty! Not much a fan of rooted but was only blonde they had left. Hope they get more in. It fits nicely with a wig cap and i did apply heat at 250 to straighten the bangs and sides so it would look longer. I absolutely adore this wig I can finger style it and it looks like my own natural hair! I wish they had the sides cut the same length though guess they were giving us some sexy. Thank you to the cutomers that posted pictures of their wigs on, that sold it for me they all looked wonderful with the wig, so natural. Mine does have some short hair sticking up on the top back but I’ll spray it down. I have purchased 4 wigs here and sent them all back but as soon as I put it on I thought Im keeping this one I love it!!!!! Im 58 have thin hair that drives me nuts so this is my fix!!! This wig is the style I wore my hair in my earlier thicker hair days. Love this!! They get some blonde colors back in Im going to purchase another one. The density is not fake looking at all it thinner and the hair is great to work with. Can praise it enough!Joni H.

When I saw a picture of this wig, I thought to myself "finally!" This is the style I have been looking for for a while, short, straight, not too much hair, an Ignite but with a longer back. Unfortunately, this wig has a very small cap. It cannot possibly be average size. Average size fits usually lose on my head and this wig I could barely squeeze on. Secondly, it has no lace front. I am too used by now to wearing a lace front monofilament to feel comfortable wearing a wig without. I guess this is what you get for the price. The color and the fibers were great, but I had to return mainly because the cap was far too small.Mimi
The biggest problem I found with this wig was the fit. Average was too big, but petite felt too small. I have a Goldilocks size head and I found the ear tabs on the petite were way too high on my temples, but the front and back fit ok. I bought it on sale and thought I would take a risk even if it wasn’t perfect (and it’s not). The hair itself is good quality and appears to be well made and the style is very cute. I only wish there was a better way to buy wigs other than to pay upfront for an online item, only to find out it’s not quite right. It seems if you can try on hairstyles virtually, there should be a way to try on wigs virtually. If you could upload a photo or enter the dimensions of your head and then try on virtually, you can get an idea of where the ear tabs will fall, for example or how long the bangs will be. It would save a lot of time and money on returns. Eventually, someone will invent it, but until then, buying wigs online is a crapshoot. I prefer to buy locally, however most wig shops don’t carry a very large variety and if you buy the same wig through a wig shop, it will cost double.Vee B.
-1 star for how easily it tangles and sheds; I recommend wearing the hair down over updos because of it -1 star for how chunky highlights are at the part which are unconcealable +1 star for cap and hairline In my pics, I have not plucked the hairline, but I have straightened the wig and rearranged the part. The cap on this wig is definitely better quality than my cheaper amazon wigs (I like that it has velcro straps), but the hair itself both tangles and comes out more easily than my cheapy $30-50 wigs, which is unfortunate. I'd recommend not even bothering to try to do a half updo with this wig, which I'm personally disappointed by but that's okay, it looks good down. The lace came pre-cut, not sure if it was supposed to, but it fits perfectly and blends right into my pale skin, which is great. Hairline is great, pretty natural looking. I ordered the color FS4/33/30A Midnight Cocoa – the highlights are so chunky right up into the part (see pics). Doesn't matter which way you part it, you have giant stripes in your hair with this color (not too noticeable from straight on or from the side but I disapprove still haha). So I would NOT recommend the colors with highlights like this one, just get a solid color. So overall, I wish I got a different color, but that's on me. It's otherwise a pretty good wig and I would recommend it.Aubrey H.
