I was so excited to receive this and try something new. I've been wearing Reese and Sky for a few years now, but wanted to switch it up a bit. I was so disappointed when I saw this. First, it looked like doll hair and the color was AWFUL! I normally wear either Irish Spice or Bronzed Brown. I ordered R3025S+ this time for a "highlighted" look, boy was I wrong. I loved the look of this wig but was hesitant to buy because of all of the bad reviews. There really are no wigs that look great right out of the box. All wigs need some sort of help. Here’s what I recommend when getting a new wig: take it out of the box and give it a good shake. Put it on and adjust the fit, ear tabs, and general placement. Finger comb it into place and then walk away. Stay away from any mirrors for at least 30 minutes or longer and don’t mess with it. This is important because when you do look in the mirror again you have “fresh eyes”. It will be easier to be more objective and not just reactive. At this point you can focus on what you do and don’t like and determine if the don’t likes are ‘fixable’. Change the part if needed, if there is too much poof, wet it down and finger comb. Don’t do any permanent modifications until you decide if you want to keep it. But give yourself time to evaluate the wig properly. For this wig, I wet the top, used my fingers to make a deep side part sweeping the bangs across my forehead and flattened down some of the poofiness on the top then left it alone to dry. I have severe hair loss on top of my head. Bad enough that I never leave my bedroom without wearing some kind of wig or hair system. This particular wig has become my go-to choice whenever I want a quick change of color or an easy swap to something already styled, for an evening or a whole day. I own several much more expensive human hair wigs, including a similar length, custom made, human hair partial wig, which is designed as a medical prosthetic that I can wear for a week or longer without removing it. Yet I also own and continue to purchase this Gayle wig, in my normal auburn color as well as in black, blonde, silvery grey, redhead, and other colors. It’s comfortable, and totally passes in public situations, including nightclubbing, as if it was my own hair. It was my best wig for several years, before I stepped up to significantly more expensive human hair wigs. This is a great wig for the price, and can easily be used for daily wear.Ceera
I ordered SF13/16 Misty Mocha Average. The overall color is nice but I'm not fond of how dark the ends get. But since I trimmed 3 or 4 inches off the length, the darker color blends in well now. The color looks a little different in different lights. I'm not a fan of perma tease but this style is not too noticeable with the little shorts stubs because of the waviness of the style. I give it four stars for potential, because right out of the box , I had these challenges: Too much hair, both length and thickness. I trimmed the bangs, which many people expect to do. I thinned out the thickness and length with thinning shears which I assume not everyone knows how to do. Starting at chin length holding a few strands the width of about an inch or more, I make one cut every two inches down and brush the cut pieces out. I then took off overall length to my taste. I'm in my 60's so I expected to be able to style it back and/or up. The changes I made allowed me to be happy with it. I will probably not purchase any wig as full and long as this again. One is enough! I wore it a few times this Spring before the heat and look forward to wearing it again in the fall.Carla
This review is for the last two wigs I purchased, which, after purchasing from Paula Young for decades, will be the last two wigs I purchase from this company. First, Gayle is cute, makes me look younger, but the hair is a bit dry and not shiny like all the other wigs I have received, making me think it's not a fresh, new wig. On the other hand, the other wig I ordered, Arielle, was not available in any color I wanted, so I took a chance and ordered something more "wild," not realizing that color cost more. When I donned the wig, I was horrified–it looked terrible on me. I wanted to return it, but was told Paula Young would charge me $8.95, or I could pay postage myself to send it back. This was the first wig I have ever tried to return to Paula Young in probably 35-40 years of ordering from the company. I was so angry at how I was treated that I will never purchase anything from this company again. Rather than return it, I sent it off to Free Wigs for Kids (postage was $5.25). Arrived via USPS in very good condition, with normal time frame for USPS. The wig was easy to put on and take off. There were instructions for all of my purchase. I lost my hair within 6 days due to chemotherapy, so the helpful instructions were appreciated. The wig was similar to the online photo, but less curly, and that was a slight disappointment. Since it had just arrived at my time of need I am very thankful for the purchase. I have ordered 2 more different styles with some additional accessories. Have always bought Raquel pieces but feel like the quality has gone down the last couple of years. The picture shows where top is completely coming apart. This started two weeks after purchase and I couldn’t afford to replace it. The sides of this one also didn’t look right and kind of poked out and could easily be seen. I wear wigs every single day… 365 days a year, for the past 35 year. I have worn many different varieties and brands of wigs… and at any price Ms.Welch's (synthetic) wigs are an inferior product to many, many other brands that cost far less money First, the "Positives": very nice color assortment from which to choose… though it must be acknowledged that "good color assortments", throughout the various brands-range is not a rarity. There are very nice colors available in all brands The "NotSoPositives": The mono-top, dimension-ally, should be more ample in size. If you wish to create a part on the "far side", either right or left, you'll encounter a problem, having run-out of "mono" construction. 2) Front Lace from "temple to temple" is not acceptable; for a product costing this amount of money at full-Retail, the lace should go from ear-to-ear 3) … and finally: the "hair"/ fiber: AWFUL !!! After wearing for a brand-new unit (only) a week or so, you'll find that the ends begin to frizz… and the frizzing becomes worse and worse as time goes-by. And before you ask: No, I do not… and have never used heated styling tools on synthetic units. The frizzing looks like the results of an extremely bad perm.', and the scatch-iness against the skin is soooooo uncomfortable on those longer styles. … and finally: the lace front separated from the front of the wig! I had to glue it back together! For me, Ms.Welch's wigs are cheaply made products with a big price-tag, and a rating of "OneStar" is one star too many!Tina M.
I wear wigs full time and I own over 20. Every quality of synthetic from $20 Ebay wigs to $400 bought on this site. Love this site. The fit, color and style of this wig are awesome as are Raq wigs, but not the hair quality. The wig frays easily. I know how to care and treat a heat friendly synthetic wig, hence my history above, but within 1 week of daily wear the hair from the nape down became dry, course and needed a deep conditioning. I only use the wide tooth wig comb sold here on my wigs so this shouldn't have happened. My first real disappointment so I'm glad I got it on sale. I bought Zara as a replacement bcs they are very similar. I hope she holds up better than Scene Stealer.Gigi
