I bought this color for my son. We both regularly dye our hair with Manic Panic. For some reason Pillarbox red has been an absolute nightmare. It is constantly bleeding on EVERYTHING. His hoodie, bedding, pillows, shirts, my bed, seat on his bus, my car seat, my stainless steel sink, etc are all red. I would give 1 star of I didn't know and love manic panic. I have been using it for 30 years! I washed his hair 5x 2 days in a row for a total of 10 times and it is still happening. I am losing my mind. All his clothes are getting ruined. I purchased silver stiletto. I already have blonde hair but bleached it awhile back. Grew my roots out and recently rebleached those and then cleansed my hair with shampoo and no conditioner. After fully drying I used the whole bottle on my hair and it was thoroughly saturated, even rubbed it in to make sure. Covered it as instructed for thirty minutes and NOTHING! Two big light blue blotches near the ends of my hair and nothing else. Vast Majority of my hair didn't take the color. At minimum usually my hair will pick up color and keep it going for a few washes. This product is Not even worth a dollar. Don't buy this.Coralcrumbs

I bought one bottle each of Rockabilly Blue and Vampire Red. I was going for a dark reddish purple. Mixed about 3/4 red and 1/4 blue. Applied, let sit for an hour. Despite the fact that I used only 1/4 of the blue in my mix it was what stained my hands (through the gloves!), sink (where I washed the mixing bowl) and my whole shower…I was shocked but honestly I don't care much about it being stained so I shrugged and on we go. Just a bit unfortunate that my whole shower floor is blue and my porcelain sink is as well. The color however turned out beautiful. I dyed over my natural dark brown hair and it made it slightly darker but a lovely rich purple/red. Exactly what I wanted. It does bleed really badly and will stain any white/light towels, sheets, hair bands/etc you might have. Now here's where something weird comes in…since I dyed it a week ago, every day I get my hair wet in the shower it smells AWFUL. Like, I immediately thought it smelled like a Porta-John. I even asked my husband the last few days to smell my wet hair and confirm that's what is smelling so bad and yes, it's my hair! It's so strange. I tried googling to see if anyone else has had the same problem but couldn't find anything so maybe it's just me? I'm giving it three stars because my hair looks and feels great, but I'll probably never use it again due to the excessive staining/bleeding and the weird smell.Alex

I stopped into Manic Panic in NYC and picked up this wig! It's a beautiful and high-quality wig! I took her home back to DC, gave her a shag cut, trimmed the bangs and she's even more of a knockout! However this product dyes everything it touches and I've spent many hours removing everything it has stained in the bathroom. It has unfortunately stained my entire shower as well as my skin. It's been over a week since I've dyed my hair and the dye is still bleeding on everything. I am now researching how to remove hair dye and booking myself in to the salon to remove the colour. Just a bit unfortunate that my whole shower floor is blue and my porcelain sink is as well. The color however turned out beautiful. I dyed over my natural dark brown hair and it made it slightly darker but a lovely rich purple/red. Exactly what I wanted. It does bleed really badly and will stain any white/light towels, sheets, hair bands/etc you might have. Now here's where something weird comes in…since I dyed it a week ago, every day I get my hair wet in the shower it smells AWFUL. Like, I immediately thought it smelled like a Porta-John. I even asked my husband the last few days to smell my wet hair and confirm that's what is smelling so bad and yes, it's my hair! It's so strange. I tried googling to see if anyone else has had the same problem but couldn't find anything so maybe it's just me? I'm giving it three stars because my hair looks and feels great, but I'll probably never use it again due to the excessive staining/bleeding and the weird smell.Alex

I bought the product to freshen up my already green hair. After not using manic panic for years due to a bad experience, I decided I would try them again. I bought a red hair dye for my partner and that was perfect. This colour however (Venus envy) is an absolute disgrace. It was runny, I applied it to my hair and followed the directions to a T. Unfortunately, it DID NOT make my heart a lovely green colour. It instead turned it blue. I was told by the hair house warehouse worker that it would be green, and it would cover my current green. I purchased this to top up my colour between salon visits. I am a regular temporary colour user and tried this as an alternative to my usual Dare colour. Although the formula spreads well and has no unpleasant smell, I found that after 1-2 washes with colour protect shampoo that the colour was mostly washed out, leaving an almost green/grey tinge. This was the very first time I tried manic panic of any kind, and as far as the company and product itself goes, I'm definitely going to get more! Unfortunately, however, I wish they'd properly advertise how the colors will show up on brown hair. This color shows up completely green (dark green) on my hair (which is normally identical to the dark hair on the chart). Despite what I expected, the green was more than fine by me, so I added some more to my hair. If this were the only problem, I would have left 4 stars. The nice, dark, almost metallic green color left behind only lasted about 3 days afterwards. 3 days and two washes later it was virtually all gone. I know they advise bleaching to get the best color, but if they know it won't work well on darker hair, then maybe they should stop advertising it for darker hair, or at least add honest photos of how it'll actually look rather than just photoshopping a blue layer over brown hair. If I got a different color better suited for my natural hair color, there's no doubt in my mind I would leave a 5 star review for that. The product itself was very easy, left my hair soft and undamaged, and surprisingly didn't stain as badly as I expected. So bottom line, yes, I would recommend, but ONLY if your hair is light. In the item description it states blood red, but once I received item streaks were pink. I checked in warm light, cool light and sunlight. Not what I wanted or what I was looking for. This was such a let down. Quality of item is good don’t get me wrong. The parting in the wig doesn’t park like the photo; it tends to fall / cover my face. Not sure if you need to style to wig to make it park like the photo. I presented my issues / concerns with the wig, and customer service handled everything professionally. I&ve used manic panic before with my son&s hair but wanted longer wear and less off hue fading for mine when i decided to do a blue ombre. I had first tried a number of "permanent" hair dyes and even went to a salon and it faded to green in a matter of weeks. Got the blue velvet and celestial blue to do a multi-hued look. Came out great and was very easy to use. Stain cleanup was simple with rubbing alcohol. Three weeks in my color was still super bright and hadn&t faded a bit. The celestial made almost a teal color and the blue velvet came out a beautiful royal blue, but i wanted more of a navy look so i tinkered a bit with it. I hadn&t ordered the smoke color, so i mixed a little professional black dye, blue velvet and developer and made a quick &wash& that i left on for about 5 min and it darkened it up perfectly! I have been suggesting it to anyone and everyone. Cannot like this product more. Wish i could add pictures to this to show how pretty the tone is. The color was no where near as bright as it was supposed to be. The color runs super bad when it gets wet. I suggest not going out in rain or you will have ruined shirts. Also make sure if you go to bed with wet hair that you use an old pillowcase or that too will be ruined. I made that mistake. My towels are also stained. This was the worst color ever! I used this color along with a few other to create peacock hair. It was amazing. I had to bleach nearly all of the color out of my hair to get a true blue but it was beautiful. Manic Panic is very easy to use, won't damage your hair, and doesn't have any strong chemical smell. It WILL absolutely stain your bathtub and anything else it touches.
