Bought this for my 4 years olds Halloween costume and it was perfect! The built in wig cap even had adjusters to help fit even better!! The wig did get TANGLED (see what I did there) very easily, but if you are willing to put in a little TLC before each wear, it is the perfect addition to any costume!

(bought in-store) You need to unbox yourself, or have another adult do so, before allowing your child to play with her. Otherwise don't even bother. I would strongly recommend going through this process BEFORE giving the doll to your child – she is just so pretty that any little princess-lover would be dying to play with her on sight. But if you don't want to spend an hour or two on pre-play care, buy another doll. This is 1000% why so many people have had such problems with the hair. If you just give her a little bit of TLC then she is basically a playdate/dressup friend and a cosmetology hair styling head all in one. You won't find a better doll for this price. All you really need is patience, a spray bottle of water, any halfway decent hair glosser or wig spray, and a hair brush. Any household pair of scissors and a bag for throwing packaging trash into. Definitely invest in a smallish wire brush ($5) that is specifically for Rapunzel, and give the brush to your princess along with the doll, because naturally the brush that comes with the doll is a joke. I got a brush, spray bottle for water, and a nice pretty-smelling glosser all for about $12, and there is plenty of glosser left over to keep Rapunzel smelling wonderful for months. 1-2 hours is the minimum here. But 1-3 hours of pre-play TLC will extend this doll's play life by thousands of hours – and then you will know exactly what your princess needs to know to really take care of this doll's hair so she can keep playing with it and style it over and over with minimal shedding, etc. Carefully remove the doll completely from the cardboard insert before going near the hair. Starting from the bottom and working your way toward the scalp, start with water and then alternate between your glosser/wig spray and more water, and just brush and brush and brush. Use more water than product; basically you want to be continually "rinsing" product out of the hair with water. The hair doesn't need to get wet, just moist enough to lubricate the strands. Brush gently but firmly with a constant pressure, but do not yank as this will cause both shedding and knots. The hair is separated into locks by these tiny clear rubber bands every 6-8" or so – so work one lock at a time, one 6" section at a time. Once you've successfully freed 4-6 locks, tie them off with a hair tie and set them out of the way. You'll get about 4-6 of these larger clumps. Once it's all free just brush it all out together, slowly and carefully. When tangles form, try your best to tease them out with water spray before they become knots; when they do become knots, don't be afraid to snip them out, just be careful. I only lost roughly a hairball's worth of hair from her in doing all of this, and as someone who has hair of a comparable length and texture to Rapunzel's, honest to god I usually pull more hair out of my own hair brush over the course of one day. Okay, maybe a day and a half. But now I can run the brush right through all of her hair and it just falls through the wires. Once you've finished dealing with the existential horrific terror of brushing a doll's hair, you can just throw it all in a big braid or two, pose it over her arms, tie her back into the cardboard insert with 2 or 3 zipties/breadties/wire, and your child will probably never know the difference. You really should consider sitting down with your princess and teaching her how to take care of Rapunzel's hair though, if you really want to get maximum life out of this doll. Anyway, 10/10 she is gorgeous and I love her. I wish every little princess could have one and learn to manage hair of this bulk before growing their own out, just keep in mind that what you're purchasing with this doll is essentially a small cosmetology head in a princess dress with roughly 2-3 lbs of hair. Don't buy it and then complain about the hair; the hair is what you're buying. Respect the hair.
