I fell in love with Clairol after a cousin of mine (professional) recommended that I use Clairol many years ago. Well, she's no longer around but her advice still stands. I wanted a family of reds to choose from. I wasn't aware of this product specifically formulated for darker hair. I didn't expect anything special. Until…….I rinsed it out and boy was I elated. I started with darker reds and worked my way up to boldly going with this one. This is my baby. I will be coloring my hair for the fall and will add a photo. My hair is relaxed and needs trimming but after coloring with this product I get soft, silky results and although the split ends may appear to disappear, I know they haven't. If you have a small project that doesn't need to match another finish, this is a great product. If, on the other hand have a large project like 15 stairs plus banister bases, it is very difficult to match between batches. I was never able to match the original color and ended up wastig an entire bottle. Tips: 1: Poke a small hole inthe tip (do not cut the tip off). 2: Make small batches to test on the exact wood and exact sanding until you get the exact formula (and log each batch with the mix ratio), then mix the large batch using scaled measurements. 3: Keep the logs in case you need to repair or replace an original finished piece. 4: It is very messy and will ruin any clothes and won't come off of your hands easily. 5: If you are mixing it with a finish (urethane), your last 1-2 coats should not contain any dye, otherwise it will come off when wiped or mopped or gets wet.gary
Very easy to use. Easy to mix with water. You can also put a few drops on a damp cloth and wipe on without diluting for a darker stain application. Another way I've used it is to stain the wood one color and after drying, use another color to stain "streaks" for a beautiful effect. After drying spray a light coat of poly from a rattle can, give a very light sanding, then fill grain as needed according to wood type and desired finish. I am in love with Roux Fanci-full Temporary Hair Color Rinse in Frivolous Fawn as it's a lifesaver in-between trips to the salon. Roux addresses my outgrow when I've got extended time separating my salon visits and allows me to successfully blend my outgrow without lines separating my hair color and what's been treated with Roux and doesn't alter my gator color nor cause any damage. It's super easy to apply and the only con I've experienced after multiple applications is that it can be a little messy as it's pure liquid. However, I simply cover myself by draping a towel over my shoulders and covering the area when I'm standing and the vanity in front of me with towels also for easier cleanup even though it's super easy to wipe up and doesn't stain so long as you cleanup any and all spills immediately following your application. I use to love manic panic hair dye and have dyed my hair so many times with their products. However this product dyes everything it touches and I've spent many hours removing everything it has stained in the bathroom. It has unfortunately stained my entire shower as well as my skin. It's been over a week since I've dyed my hair and the dye is still bleeding on everything. I am now researching how to remove hair dye and booking myself in to the salon to remove the colour. Unfortunately due to this terrible experience I am reluctant to buy Manic Panic again. I purchased silver stiletto. I already have blonde hair but bleached it awhile back. Grew my roots out and recently rebleached those and then cleansed my hair with shampoo and no conditioner. After fully drying I used the whole bottle on my hair and it was thoroughly saturated, even rubbed it in to make sure. Covered it as instructed for thirty minutes and NOTHING! Two big light blue blotches near the ends of my hair and nothing else. Vast Majority of my hair didn't take the color. At minimum usually my hair will pick up color and keep it going for a few washes. This product is Not even worth a dollar. Don't buy this.Coralcrumbs
I bought one bottle each of Rockabilly Blue and Vampire Red. I was going for a dark reddish purple. Mixed about 3/4 red and 1/4 blue. Applied, let sit for an hour. Despite the fact that I used only 1/4 of the blue in my mix it was what stained my hands (through the gloves!), sink (where I washed the mixing bowl) and my whole shower…I was shocked but honestly I don't care much about it being stained so I shrugged and on we go. Just a bit unfortunate that my whole shower floor is blue and my porcelain sink is as well. The color however turned out beautiful. I dyed over my natural dark brown hair and it made it slightly darker but a lovely rich purple/red. Exactly what I wanted. It does bleed really badly and will stain any white/light towels, sheets, hair bands/etc you might have. Now here's where something weird comes in…since I dyed it a week ago, every day I get my hair wet in the shower it smells AWFUL. Like, I immediately thought it smelled like a Porta-John. I even asked my husband the last few days to smell my wet hair and confirm that's what is smelling so bad and yes, it's my hair! It's so strange. I tried googling to see if anyone else has had the same problem but couldn't find anything so maybe it's just me? I'm giving it three stars because my hair looks and feels great, but I'll probably never use it again due to the excessive staining/bleeding and the weird smell.Alex

This is the best hair dye I’ve tried. I’ve wanted to try it for a while but was hesitant since the price was so low, I thought it would be unreliable. I used the shade emerald and the color was the exact color as the bottle (I have light blonde hair). It was extremely easy to apply and it lasted (in my mind) the perfect amount of time. In 6ish washes it’s just about gone and I was really scrubbing (it probably could last longer but sadly after I dyed my hair I realized I wanted my natural color back). Even when it was starting to fade the color was still pretty for the first 4 washes. It was muted but still vibrant until about wash #6, then it looked kind of gray kind of as if I stayed in chlorine too long (keep in mind that I got the shade emerald, it would have been like that regardless of the brand). The color didn’t get on any of my towels. This product would get a 14/10 if I could. The price and quality are unbelievable!member-0a5d01

I apply it, comb it thru and let it set between 1/2 hr and 1 hour depending on the amount of orange I got going on.. wash it out and BAM! It's perfect! This semi-permanent hair dye was kindly gifted by Kiss Colors and Care. I am fairly novice at dying my hair at home, I top up my highlights every now and again but never have success with all over colors. I was gifted the color Vivid Violet. The whole process was really easy and foolproof and only took about 10-15 minutes. The dye is really clean and includes really great ingredients such as Argan Oil, Olive Oil, Collagen and Keratin. The scent was very light and not overpowering and I have fairly sensitive skin but this product applied perfectly on my hair with no problems. This year alone I had red, turquoise, green, purple and some attempts to blonde hair at home. It was extremely damaging to my hair and I could not tone it for dear life. Revlon saved the day! I really want to find their mushroom blonde, I am dying to try it but I used the soft black for my root shadow, it helped with the orange and looked soft and natural. Before caving in to trying the $3.50 hair color I used Ion from Sallys, loreal and garnier olia (which is also good but fades super fast) Also I dampened my roots for a softer root shadow. Rinse in cold water so it doesn’t transfer to your blonde. It worked beautifully. 100% would be trying their other colors.sarah.o

spent weeks bleaching out my daughters hair and decided to try this brand. she really loved the royal purple it showed on the box. but when we put it on her hair it was staright blue. it darkened up a little after leaving it in for double the time it said to but ultimately came out as a light blue. nowhere near ROYAL PURPLE at all!amber
I have platinum white hair and our water leaves me with that terrible yellow color in some places. I mixed a little of this with my purple conditioner and it toned the yellow out. PERMANENT! Says it washed out after around 4 shampoos. That is false. Still was as vibrant as ever. Washed multiple times with dish soap, which is a KNOWN stripping agent.
