After tying my very first bracelet, I noticed that the device doesnt lie flat on a table/ surface while weaving(the bolt and the screws underneath, stick out of the device). I've got nothing but good things to say about this jig. This combined with the fids I also purchased from Jig Pro make weaving even complex, "fancy" designs a cinch. The large knob is nice for quick, easy length adjustment, and I especially like how the hooks that hold your buckles on don't require a screwdriver to be loosened/tightened. The metal rail that the adjustment block rides on gives a nice, solid, confidence-inspiring feel and makes adjusting feel very smooth and precise. Nice that the ruler includes both imperial and metric measurements. I'll still be using the 10" Compact Pro jig when I'm on the road or camping, but when I'm making a wristband at home this one is going to be my go-to. Highly recommended.ndaway2fast-4

Just bought this Jig to make a Christmas present. The jig was easy to setup but the instructions lack specific detail. Thank goodness for youtube videos. The included router bits seem OK until about the 10th cut. Using the small template, the bits dull rapidly and were frustrating to deal with the excessive tear out of the wood and the burning. I was able to complete one joint that fit tight and looked great. The next joint always had poor pins and I was unable to get them to work. I won't be purchasing replacement bits from Porter-Cable due to the poor quality of the supplied. I'll be contacting Porter-Cable to determine if they would like to send replacement bits. Another improvement would be the cam lock for holding the workpiece. The plastic support on the cam lock can become damaged if due care is not exercised when tightening. Then there is the stop guides. They are positioned at both ends and don't permit travel to the middle of the jig. I'll be modifying to correct this as I would like to use small pieces working from middle not the end. Finally, it would be an added benefit if the template had more surface to support the router base. Care must be exercised when routing around the fingers as the CG of the router could tip forward causing damage to the bit or work piece. A redesign of the template would make this Jig ideal. Overall I would give 4 star for jig and 1 star for the bits.DrDave2020

I have been using the Rockler dovetail jig for several years. The set up was easy for this jig. The jig made good dovetails drawers. But I could not always get the 4 sides even on the top and bottom. Found the vertical portion of the left and right “L” shaped adjustment stops (Parts #11 in the manual) were slightly bowed and allowed the left and right sides of the drawer to tilt slightly during the set up. I ordered another set of the “L” stops from Rockler. The new parts had the same bow as the original parts. Have ordered a Porter-Cable dovetail jig as a replacement of the Rockler jig. Hopefully the P-C jig will produces a perfect dovetail joints.Edwin
This Rockler Dovetail Jig is amazing. The ability to create repeatable full and half blind dovetails quickly and accurately with this is simply awesome! The instructions are a bit lacking, but I read the instructions thoroughly(actually about three times) and then read them as I went through the process of making my first test joints of both types of dovetails. The key for me was to watch various YouTube videos that I was able to find showing different people using this jig. I did get sloppy at one point and did not wait until the router was completely stopped and ruined my pins template for anything larger than 7 inches. Fortunately, the pins template was on sale on the Rockler.com website. I also picked up the two different unique style templates from my local Rockler store. I love this jog and have made several small boxes for my wife and a few drawers for my garage using both the full and half blind dovetails. Great jig! Thanks Rockler!kirk

It is a very good quality item . I included value for money as I got it in a sale plus I had a extra 10% off , it also came free with hinge centre kit . The item its self is well designed and if you need you can use for under stairs cupboards by using half . The is a couple of things you can do to make it even better for yourself one is to change the top plate that is a spacer more for unpainted frames , having a thinner to swap is a good idea . Also I got some kitchen three way clamps for using with the jig when putting wholes in your door is a problem. This works OK and is handy to setup shapes that need to be repeated. For that it's acceptable. It's awkward to use with any precision. The small plastic tubes used to hold the pins in place are, as necessary for the job, a tight fit. Even with those in place the tolerances for the fit of the pins in to the holes is very sloppy. The finish of the whole thing is poor. Solid but ragged edges. For the price it is worth having but if I did a lot of this sort of thing I'd go up market a lot.cluetoo1965

Sorry, but this is a typical Rockler product — one that looks good but works only fair because of cheap design. The movable top board that establishes the angle is made of particle board, not hardwood or metal as it should be. The smooth plastic surface is fine, but the top board isn't stiff enough. As a result, when the clamps that hold the workpiece are tightened down, the top board bows up, which limits how tightly the workpiece can be held. I've found that sometimes the jig works ok, but it certainly isn't the quality of jig that the lofty price suggests it is. I recommend that if you need a taper jig, make you own, using photos of Rockler's as a design guide.Fred
Just bought one and there are two thing off the top – first, it's not a taper/straight line jig. Running it riding on the fence just ends up with shredding the board on the bottom due to lack of support. But if you consider a straight line to be a taper of zero degrees and keep the miter gauge on it works fine. Second, the handle interferes with the fence. Bad planning. I'll try putting threading the handle into the fence and see if that works better. But generally it seems pretty good.Richard
The design approach seems sound enough, and the hardware used is solid. The material used for the sled and IN PARTICULAR the fence is insufficient to rate this anything above average. The fence is really where its lacks. The adjustable slot is large compared to the diameter of the T-Bolts used to secure hold downs. As a result, they can cock and affect fence straightness in addition any appreciable torque on the T-bolt can cause the weak MDF fence to bow/flex and mess with the fence straightness. This becomes significant the closer to center of the fence the clamps when the T-Bolts torque. In my opinion, MDF is the wrong material for a fence design like this. A more rigid material is needed, like Phenolic. It is structurally insufficient to handle the torques of the T-Bolts.Gerald

Just bought this Jig to make a Christmas present. The jig was easy to setup but the instructions lack specific detail. Thank goodness for youtube videos. The included router bits seem OK until about the 10th cut. Using the small template, the bits dull rapidly and were frustrating to deal with the excessive tear out of the wood and the burning. I was able to complete one joint that fit tight and looked great. The next joint always had poor pins and I was unable to get them to work. I won't be purchasing replacement bits from Porter-Cable due to the poor quality of the supplied. I'll be contacting Porter-Cable to determine if they would like to send replacement bits. Another improvement would be the cam lock for holding the workpiece. The plastic support on the cam lock can become damaged if due care is not exercised when tightening. Then there is the stop guides. They are positioned at both ends and don't permit travel to the middle of the jig. I'll be modifying to correct this as I would like to use small pieces working from middle not the end. Finally, it would be an added benefit if the template had more surface to support the router base. Care must be exercised when routing around the fingers as the CG of the router could tip forward causing damage to the bit or work piece. A redesign of the template would make this Jig ideal. Overall I would give 4 star for jig and 1 star for the bits.DrDave2020
