This works OK and is handy to setup shapes that need to be repeated. For that it's acceptable. It's awkward to use with any precision. The small plastic tubes used to hold the pins in place are, as necessary for the job, a tight fit. Even with those in place the tolerances for the fit of the pins in to the holes is very sloppy. The finish of the whole thing is poor. Solid but ragged edges. For the price it is worth having but if I did a lot of this sort of thing I'd go up market a lot.cluetoo1965

Just bought this Jig to make a Christmas present. The jig was easy to setup but the instructions lack specific detail. Thank goodness for youtube videos. The included router bits seem OK until about the 10th cut. Using the small template, the bits dull rapidly and were frustrating to deal with the excessive tear out of the wood and the burning. I was able to complete one joint that fit tight and looked great. The next joint always had poor pins and I was unable to get them to work. I won't be purchasing replacement bits from Porter-Cable due to the poor quality of the supplied. I'll be contacting Porter-Cable to determine if they would like to send replacement bits. Another improvement would be the cam lock for holding the workpiece. The plastic support on the cam lock can become damaged if due care is not exercised when tightening. Then there is the stop guides. They are positioned at both ends and don't permit travel to the middle of the jig. I'll be modifying to correct this as I would like to use small pieces working from middle not the end. Finally, it would be an added benefit if the template had more surface to support the router base. Care must be exercised when routing around the fingers as the CG of the router could tip forward causing damage to the bit or work piece. A redesign of the template would make this Jig ideal. Overall I would give 4 star for jig and 1 star for the bits.DrDave2020

I have been using the Rockler dovetail jig for several years. The set up was easy for this jig. The jig made good dovetails drawers. But I could not always get the 4 sides even on the top and bottom. Found the vertical portion of the left and right “L” shaped adjustment stops (Parts #11 in the manual) were slightly bowed and allowed the left and right sides of the drawer to tilt slightly during the set up. I ordered another set of the “L” stops from Rockler. The new parts had the same bow as the original parts. Have ordered a Porter-Cable dovetail jig as a replacement of the Rockler jig. Hopefully the P-C jig will produces a perfect dovetail joints.Edwin
This Rockler Dovetail Jig is amazing. The ability to create repeatable full and half blind dovetails quickly and accurately with this is simply awesome! The instructions are a bit lacking, but I read the instructions thoroughly(actually about three times) and then read them as I went through the process of making my first test joints of both types of dovetails. The key for me was to watch various YouTube videos that I was able to find showing different people using this jig. I did get sloppy at one point and did not wait until the router was completely stopped and ruined my pins template for anything larger than 7 inches. Fortunately, the pins template was on sale on the Rockler.com website. I also picked up the two different unique style templates from my local Rockler store. I love this jog and have made several small boxes for my wife and a few drawers for my garage using both the full and half blind dovetails. Great jig! Thanks Rockler!kirk

It is a very good quality item . I included value for money as I got it in a sale plus I had a extra 10% off , it also came free with hinge centre kit . The item its self is well designed and if you need you can use for under stairs cupboards by using half . The is a couple of things you can do to make it even better for yourself one is to change the top plate that is a spacer more for unpainted frames , having a thinner to swap is a good idea . Also I got some kitchen three way clamps for using with the jig when putting wholes in your door is a problem. Ok I was very intimidated when this jig arrived, very heavy but extremely well made, to the novice at first and even second sight it seems complicated. After watching a few YouTube videos I had the courage to use it… I got an old door and spent an afternoon happily routing chopping the door to bits fitting sash locks. It's brilliant and it will last a life time. Things that had me stumped… the locks I had were not on the measurement charts so I didn't know which plates to use. Not A problem phone trend technical depart they will give you all the advice you need without hanging around on the phone all day. Also make sure you find dead centre of your door otherwise your lock will look off centre, a little practise on an old door will help you. Really it's easy when you know how!7688michaelm
I bought this based on the reviews but after using it I waa slightly disappointed, firstly there was no template for the latch body, and 90% of the latches I've fitted so far don't match any of the supplied templates, (most of the howdens latches) the other issue is that for it to work properly you need to buy the trend 30mm guide Bush as the dewalt one I have is too deep and doesn't allow one side of the cut on a standard door width, this means after spending £100 on the jig you have to buy a £10 Bush guide and a £30 Bush guide adaptor to adapt trend to dewalt (not that they have them in stock at all) It has potential to betterImpact

I won't be purchasing replacement bits from Porter-Cable due to the poor quality of the supplied. I'll be contacting Porter-Cable to determine if they would like to send replacement bits. Another improvement would be the cam lock for holding the workpiece. The plastic support on the cam lock can become damaged if due care is not exercised when tightening. Then there is the stop guides. They are positioned at both ends and don't permit travel to the middle of the jig. I'll be modifying to correct this as I would like to use small pieces working from middle not the end. Finally, it would be an added benefit if the template had more surface to support the router base. Care must be exercised when routing around the fingers as the CG of the router could tip forward causing damage to the bit or work piece. A redesign of the template would make this Jig ideal. Overall I would give 4 star for jig and 1 star for the bits.DrDave2020

This jig is very well made, strong and accurate. It’s easy to set up and makes excellent dovetails. Just need to make sure the side stops are set properly. Just bought this Jig to make a Christmas present. The jig was easy to setup but the instructions lack specific detail. Thank goodness for youtube videos. The included router bits seem OK until about the 10th cut. Using the small template, the bits dull rapidly and were frustrating to deal with the excessive tear out of the wood and the burning. I was able to complete one joint that fit tight and looked great. The next joint always had poor pins and I was unable to get them to work.
