I am very pleased with this exerciser. It is quite sturdy, easy to assemble, easy to move around and easy to use. The price is very low for this quality and the fact that it includes a computer that accurately counts movement. My only complaint: I used it too long the first time out and had to rest for a day or two until my muscles caught up with my enthusiasm. This item does not require resistance for efficacy. You can go faster or slower, use it in an HIIT manner, or however you wish. You will get a workout. The only complaint: a plastic housing on the magnet that is used for counting came broken. I finally got to open the box and get it set up, but I would be calling Dicks and hopefully I can return this junk, it is extra cheap, wobbly flimsy and a waste of money. The assembly was easy. Some items were confusing but I just reread the instructions and got it. Some hardware is already installed in a few of the pieces so be sure that you read the instructions on each page before you start cutting hardware out of the packages. it will tell you to remove the hardware from the pieces and set them aside. I did try the machine out briefly and feel it may take some time to decide if I like it or not, but feel that I will end up loving it.Christie

This does not stretch the back at all. It pulls on your ankles. The worst part of it is that when you realize it does not work and need to return it to get your money back, it will cost you $30 to do so and BJ's will not reimburse you for shipping. Pros: great concept Cons: as is it pulls mostly between the ankles and the butt. the back gets some traction but the but friction is a huge obstacle. Other thoughts: I cut the board in 1/3 and 2/3 and taped it so it was nice. then detached the bottom 1/3 from the underside support bar and reattached it to the slider bar. So now, the bottom 1/3 of the board, which is where your butt is, slides with the ankles as the rachet separated them. I wish I could patent this! It works perfectly! […]JMR
I picked this up off another site about a month ago. I wish I had know about this A LONG time ago. This thing works Great for low back issues. I injured my lower back over 30 yrs ago. You name it. I've tried it. Chiropractic (a lot), Psychical Therapy, Massage, Exercise. It all helps, but this Stamina Back Stretch Bench beats them all. I only use it about 10 – 12 mins. a day. I do admit. Very good unit. For the record, I have spinal injuries from the military and was in a severe auto accident two years ago, whereby, we were hit from behind at more than 50 MPH. In that accident, I received three herniated disks, one protrusion and some cervical injuries. After going thru the usual medical treatment for 18 months with no real good outlook for pain, I tried this unit. At first it was a bit strange, getting on and off and actually using it. My only complaint, is that the adjustment handle should be adjustable for different arm lengths. I'm 5'10" 170 LBS and for me the arm lever is a bit of a challenge. Overall, I use it daily for about 20 minutes and almost immediately, I got relief from pain on both sides. My injuries are on L2, L3, L4 & L5 in addition to my cervical areas. I use the head band about twice per week also. I was advised against spinal surgeries from three different doctors and since I'm not a person to take a lot of meds, so far, it has made my life better. In addition, to my injuries, the car accident has made my issues with "facet" pain much worse and has elevated my arthritic spinal issues. However, this machine has made my daily life less painful! I intend to keep up my daily routine with this machine. Also, I wish it were available with about a 12" stand instead of laying on the floor. But, with everything, there are tradeoffs and my results have been positive!!!angolapirate
I can't do an inversion table so I thought this would be the next best thing, well not even close. Its uncomfortable to say the least. You do not get the sense that your decompressing because your too busy holding on with your feet and arm pits. The head gear doesn't pull from the back of your head but rather under your chin giving you the feeling you'll choke to death if you don't grit your teeth and grimace….. Complete waste of moneymareaedit
Updated as of 11/10/2019! Overall the device is seems to be a well built cervical/back stretch machine and delivers on pain relief. My drop in rating is related to the Neck Harness attachment which seems to have broken stitching issues after just 7 times of use. I'm currently trying to get a replacement from Stamina since it should be covered under warranty.William B

This product is a sure winner. Just before joining the US Navy in 2006, I was a bit overweight and struggling to meet the physical readiness standards. I was willing to do anything to shed some weight and become a bit lighter on my feet. I spoke to my recruiter because I thought I wouldn't meet the requirements by the deadline. He advised me to start using the stepper and elliptical. For three weeks I trained on both machines, and when I say total 180, I went from 260 lbs to 235 Ibs and brung my running time Damien almost 2 whole minutes. Fast forward to 2022. I come across the M9 and not only am I getting better results from just one trainer, I don't have to leave my house so very convenient. I also worry less about getting sick, working out on public gym equipment. Thank you Blowflex!
The motion is easy on my joints and the handlebars do let you exercise upper body as well as legs. It is marketed for HIIT training – Sprints and intervals and such, but it does work well and smoothly at slower speeds as well. At slow speeds, the cadence measurement (RPM) and power readings(Calories/second) bounce a lot – these could be smoother at slow speeds. They seem very smooth at speeds above 40 RPM and very bouncy below 30RPM. The resistance is all set manually via a big knob on the console. It has no feedback (detents or haptics) and it's very smooth to the grip, so it's not very predictable that if I want to go from resistance #2 to #8 I should turn it "this" much. You have to keep your eye on the resistance level shown on the screen. I wrapped the knob with some rubber bands and stuck a piece of tape on it so I can see just how far it has turned. But it is still unpredictable, like turn it from 1:00 to 6:00 and the resistance goes up 4 levels but at the end of the interval, turn it from 6:00 back to 1:00 and the resistance only goes down 2 levels. It works; but it feels like trial and error and watching the screen for feedback while a knob should be it's own feedback – turn it X degrees per resistance level. They should have some class or "learn" or such on the use of the handlebars for different areas of the upper body. Hold this area with the elbows out and concentrate on pulling – to exercise postural upper back muscles …. Try like this…. for the front deltoids … etc. I would hope that at some point it will give me a progress report ….. but I don't see anywhere in JRNY where it will do that. Even the fitness assessment didn't give a report or result. So far the longest programs I see are 30 minutes. I know I saw longer ones in advertisements. I don't know if this is because of my fitness assessment? or the type of machine I am using? The Manual programs seem to let you go for 90 minutes at least.
Like tittle says machine is great but the tech is awful I couldn’t give that a worse review and since the machine needs the tech to work it makes the whole experience bad. The pros: Solid contruction I weigh 300lbs currently and machine is rock solid even with throwing my weight around. Virtual coach and workouts are fun to help make workouts have some variety and not feel like the same thing over and over. The cons: I have to unplug and plug back in almost every time I go to use the machine because the software crashes. This involves having to wait for it to boot and connect to the WiFi to work out. Takes a few minutes so kinda annoying. while I’m away from it the machine even crashes if the machine hasn’t been used at all. WiFi disconnects sometimes while using it it’s only about 20 feet away from my access point and don’t have problems with any other device disconnecting. When doing a workout it pauses when this happens it’s great to be in the middle of a workout and have it crash for a second. Fortunately it does come back every time so far but after a few seconds but is super annoying. Machine is such a joke without the monthly expense of the app which makes it a even bigger annoyance. I would rather pay a little more up front and not be monthly paymented to death to have good functionality of it. After finishing workout app gets stuck transitioning from finished workout to workout summery and music will continue to play indefinitely until I unplug the machine. Resistance knob is not mechanical at all so sometimes it picks up adjustments sometimes it doesn’t so it’s real inconsistent trying to get resistance set Conclusion Seriously I don’t know how this tech could be any worse it’s like they didn’t even test it before shipping them out. It really turns me off to any future purchases from bowflex. Unfortunately there’s not much else out there that mimics a stair stepper without having to by a high end fitness center grade machine. I wanted this machine since I’m heavier I wanted something solid but I would probably go with the M6 if I could do it over since the tech is so bad on this.
